I've got gig monday, rehearsal tue so wed is my only opportunity. I'll be down at Camp Pendleton during the day on wed and heading back up north late afternoon/early evening. If the timing works I'm in for food and/or a drink with whoever is around.

If you hit South Jersey, I could take you to my favorite wing place. The guys from Philly and No Jersey could attend, bring their wives even. I could be a cool drive depending on the route.

Hey Tweeze
What's your test to see if those willing are married or single?

porsche4life 01-28-2012 02:16 PM

You have got her wrong.... She doesn't care about the marital status, she just wants to have a friendly dinner, like normal pelicans do.

Baz 01-28-2012 05:47 PM

FWIW Tweez....when I saw Jim post "Married" - I figured it meant he had a wife - which meant he would be in hot water (to say the least) were he to have dinner with ANY FEMALE whether just a friend - Pelican - alone - or with others.

The only reason I say this is I have a fair number buddies who - after getting married - were immediately forbidden - to have a life of their own. To the point where their mancard should have been revoked.

So I don't know that you should feel offended.....it's probably the "old ball and chain" thing for Jim.

That said.....I wonder why he couldn't invite his wife along.....Jim? :p

Mrs. Lee doesn't drink at all and is my designated driver, so I always like having her with me when I go out to have fun. Besides, she's the only person in the world I don't get tired of being around after a while.

It's more complicated than that. Joanna has MS and RIGHT now she's losing the ability to walk, drive and her independance. It's been a tought 6 months and life will be harder in the coming years. Imagine being a skier, dancer, teacher, cheerleader, mom & wife and now having to let everyone else take care of you.

Due to MS we've moved out of our home for the last 13 years, moved into a smaller rental that's a TON smaller. We're remodeling a nicer home right now so we're spending $$$ that we should use for retirement to make a home that will work for her in a wheelchair.

So yes, it's not a time for me to intertain anyone from this board. Would I like to YES. Hell I would like a long drunken weekend right now.

Hey Jim,

Ugh.....I'm really sorry to hear this and hope I didn't offend you or your wife....I had no idea. F.W.I.W., I have a good friend of over 30 years & one of the best surfers to ever surf in this area, who has MS and has now reached the point where he cannot surf anymore. It's unbelievable to see this terrible disease hijack someone you care for - I don't have to tell you. Please know we are thinking of you and your wife and hope again my post wasn't offensive...best regards, Baz

rusnak 01-28-2012 10:03 PM

Huh. I would be vey cool to have a chick friend who was into aircooled 911s.

But Long Beach is a bit too far to drive.

Brando 01-29-2012 12:32 PM

Bump.

pwd72s 01-29-2012 01:32 PM

Hey Hugh...I didn't know what a tech scout was so Googled it and came up with this:

Location scouting is a vital process in the pre-production stage of filmmaking and commercial photography.[1] Once scriptwriters, producers or directors have decided what general kind of scenery they require for the various parts of their work that is shot outside of the studio, the search for a suitable place or "location" outside the studio begins. Location scouts also look for generally spectacular or interesting locations beforehand, to have a database of locations in case of requests.[2]

Location scouts often negotiate legal access to filming locations.

Is this what you do? Sounds very interesting....and sorry for the slight thread hijack Tweez!

One of my favorite Western sets is the town of Silverado in the movie of the same name. Also one of my favorite movies ever.

tweezers74 01-30-2012 12:30 PM

I am here and if anybody wants to have dinner, I am down. Most people seem free either tuesday or Wednesday. Either day good for me. Maybe 630 or 7 pm. Staying in the area of 1st and ocean blvd. come one and all. I am nice, really I am. :D

scottmandue 01-30-2012 12:44 PM

I recommend Belmont Brewery, great view, great beer, ok food or Johnny Reb's for BBQ, Awesome sushi by the LB airport (Korean style so a bit on the spicy side), LB waterfront has a Gladstone's (great fish), the Yardhouse (great bar and dining), a Mexican place, (however the BBQ place on the waterfront sucks) Parkers lighthouse (More seafood, haven;t eaten there in years but it was good.)

Across the street from the waterfront is an area called the Pike, Islands (great burgers), Calif Pizza Kitchen, stuff like that... I'm meeting my friend there @ Hooters tomorrow night if you are feeling brave.

Pine street also has a few nice places to eat and drink.

I would love to meet with you but my wife is out of town and having a beer with a pretty lady solo might not fly too well if you get my drift.

However if we could get a couple local scallywags together it would be legit.

PS, DO NOT GO INTO NORTH LONG BEACH!!! GANGLAND ALERT!!! Stay near the ocean and you will be fine.
