"ATM machine" is a redundancy. As is "scuba apparatus."
The phrase is: " I ' couldn't ' care less!"

Embraer 01-29-2012 01:52 PM

...both "Chai Tea" and "Queso Cheese" are redundancies, too.

Thank you! One of my pet peeves.

Now back to amazing facts:
You can make a cat bark like a dog. Soak it in gasoline and touch a match to it. WOOF!:p

dentist90 01-29-2012 02:58 PM

... and for you cat lovers, an equal opportunity offensive joke:

A dog can be made to meow like a cat.
Put him in a deep freeze and then cut it in half with a bandsaw. Reee-owwwr! :D

(makes more sense if you say it out loud...)

Abracadabra is one of the few words that does not mean anything.

Influenza is an Italian word that is unchanged in English.

Cats don't like being made to do the YMCA dance.......just sayin'

pavulon 01-29-2012 05:12 PM

the "YMCA" is generally done with your arms only...and so is only a dance to white guys.

HHI944 01-29-2012 05:21 PM

Ummm, I am a white guy...

pavulon 01-29-2012 05:29 PM

me too.

Tobra 01-29-2012 05:32 PM

I thought there was a black guy in the Village People, but I am pretty sure he was gay, so I will need a ruling on whether or not that counts.

Tabs, you know everything else, how about it?

HHI944 01-29-2012 05:51 PM

I think that kind of ruling is right up Tabs alley....

"scuba apparatus."
the aqualung "scuba apparatus" was invented by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Émile Gagnan in the winter of 1942-1943 when they adapted and improved the demand regulator invented by someone else for underwater use.
the fun fact here is I just happen to have one of those laying around the house I picked up 40 or so years ago. threw it in a closet or somewhere 35 years ago and it's been sitting there ever since I believe. yeah, I've inherited the hoarder disorder from my father's side of the family. I rarely throw anything away. this is what it looks like

I agree that the proper term in almost all situations is just water heater. But to say there is no such thing as a hot water heater is incorrect. We used to need hot (100.4F) water flowing all day for our film processors. The only practical way to do that was three large water heaters run in series. The first one would warm the water, the second would get it hotter and the third would finally get it hot enough to blend with cold water to get a steady 100F. We had enough valves that we could bypass any one heater for a short time for replacement without stopping production. That was only possible if it was summer time. In the winter we had to have all three running.

And as my little know fact for the thread:

Kodak has stopped production of aerial film. Agfa makes all the world's areial film now. Even Japan, China & Russia just buy Agfa aerial film. One roll of film is 9 & 7/16th inch wide and 443 feet long and costs over $2,800.
