Many years ago, we had acquired a small puppy.

One day, when I got home from work, my wife was visibly upset and would not tell me what was troubling her.
The next day, when I arrived home, there was a plastic model kit of a sailing ship on the table and the story came out.

I had been scratch building a model of a pilot schooner "Phantom" and had gotten to the point of making deck fittings. Through the night, one of our cats had knocked it off the shelf where it rested (we had an apartment at the time) and the puppy did what puppies do with pieces of wood.

I never finished the plastic kit. I gave it to a kid who offered to help us move.

The dog grew up to be a wonderful dog who didn't chew anything he wasn't supposed to.

I saw a model kit for the Phantom the other week. Hmmm.

i have a photo file somewhere. i've lived thru it too!

to be honest, i am a much better dog owner now. i bet 90% of the stuff destroyed at my home could have been saved if i simply exercised the dog more.

i lost an entire couch to the wood-frame to a lab puppy.

For every pet that destroys stuff, there's a perfect pet... our Daisy is one of the "perfect" ones...

Widgeon is not perfect but she is everything we could ask for in a four legged friend. She may be our last dog, they have all been wonderful and unique. Regardless of behavior we loved them all.

Widgeon is a beauty! We'll always have a Golden now....don't know how we lived without one until 4 years ago.

Our black lab Sally passed away last March. This thread reminds me to not rush out and buy another dog. The early days she dug holes in the garden, flowerbeds, lawn and the worst thing she did she ate frozen dog poop in her later days.
Overall we enjoyed her for 13 years
