There's a restaurant in Lansing (right near the Kellogg Center at MSU) called The Roadhouse IIRC that has literally thousands and thousands of license plates plastering the walls and ceiling. Amazing.

I have a small collection of plates as well, including a vintage NJ plate, and a plate from South Africa. I would be interested to see what this fellow has.

No "affordable WWII guns" left...

My friend has 3 M1911A1's that were featured in the Clawson book. The guns will easily sell for $4-$5k once he decides to sell them. They are "like new", but with the patina that accompanies a 60-some year old Parkerized gun.

The next time I visit my friend's house, I'll take the camera and get some pics of the more interesting license plates. He lives in a seniors place because he can barely see and he gave the house to his son and daughter-in-law, but they live in TN and come up a few times a year to visit and they stay in the house. It's a nice house and would have sold for $150k back when you could sell houses in Wayne County, MI. Now, you could buy it (and many other houses like it) for $50k.

Yep, we can register the cars here with the old plates. I have '64-'65 plates for my 356 and I just bought '70-'71 plate for my 914 on eBay. There are actually folks out there who collect and sell the old state inspection stickers too

I tried to register a set of 1974 MI license plates for my '74 911 and because the plates were "personalized" ("74 TARGA"), the Secretary of State refused my request to reuse them.
