Lovin my iPad

I've had my iPad for just over a month and I've been surprised at how well it works. So much so that I dread starting up my laptop now. I can do a lot of simple tasks like checking work email etc. It truly saves me a lot of time. There are apps on my laptop that I need everyday so it can't replace it completely but once I'm on the road I rarely need to start it up if I have my iPad with me.

I still use a hand written diary for planning work and scheduling and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon.

Yup, I love my Galaxy Tab 7.0 as well, for the same reason.

I like mine as well, but you can't post pics on PP with it without using a 3rd party server like photobucket, You also need a device from apple to up load pics if you have an iPad 1. I don't think you can respond to PMs either. I like that I can download and watch several iTunes movies while on an airplane without killing the battery.

Sure it has limitations but it's still great. (and tax deductible for me )

The thing is there's nothing really new in the iPad... It's just that as a package it just works so well.
I especially like the keyboard. With predictive text I find it easier to use than a regular one. I don't understand why people buy an external Bluetooth keyboard.

I almost hate to say it, but I love mine as well. I got it in December for business (deluxe audio remote y'know) & I use it more than I thought I would. I carry it around the house to look info up, check forums, solve arguments etc etc. What a great toy!

I have the 496 page parts catalogue loaded on mine and use it next to my 911 when I'm figuring out which size, bolts/ nuts, washers I need to use to put everything back together.

Another bonus is my wife is addicted to internet browsing at night which gives me a chance to watch all the 'blokey' movies I never used to get a chance to see. Think Senna, Gran Torino, No Man's Land (old but good!), Hangover 2.

Works well in reverse also when she wants to see her faves - Pride and Prejudice, Bride and Prejudice, Twilight movies, blah, blah, blah

Can you all explain how you're uploading the photos? I have the same issues the OP does.

Dropbox will give you easy access to any file. Just upload from a PC & download to your iPad. I haven't quite figured out iCloud for file transfers, but Dropbox works like a charm.

You can either upload to online storage and link or get the tapatalk app which is what widgeon uses.

Pelican runs on vBulletin. Wayne runs a plugin that provides a different (leaner) interface for mobile devices that is missing some advanced functionality like posting pictures.

iPad is detected as a mobile device so it gets the mobile version of Pelican by default.

Used to be you could choose the option for "Normal View" at the bottom of the page but that seems to no longer bring up the traditional interface.

There are other browsers available for IOS that may have the ability to present themselves as a non mobile browser which should allow use of the advanced features. Androids default browser can do that.

Tapatalk is the easy way. I use it with my iPhone to post check Pelican and post replies. It is a cheap app, and it even does the PMs and photos.

I gave my wife an iPad for Christmas a year ago. She has it in her hands a LOT. She has read a ton of books. In the Metro OKC area the library has an e-book program. She can download and read books for free. Her mom saw that and we got her an iPad and I set it up fro her to download e-books. She claims to hate us because all she get done is read books. She loves not having to buy a book and not even leave the house to get a new book.

It totally blew my MILs mind when she came to visit us and he got her email on her iPad while away from her house. In her mind email was tied to the home computer.

Like my Ipad, love is too strong.

Like: size, battery life, convenience, some apps

Dislike: no usb, no card reader, cant load any software (why do you think they have so many apps), dislike many apps (its much easier to use the ebay website, the app stinks) keyboard for me will never replace a laptops. Lack of flash is a big problem for me, The constant pinching, zooming, expanding, reducing is ponderous. My 15 computer geek son best summed it up by stating that using it for a long time is constraining. Maybe its the lack of windows to flip from task to task. I find if I get into something that I really need to dig into, down goes the ipad and over to a desktop. What would take 10 minutes to achieve with the ipad takes 2 minutes with a laptop.

I have loads of laptops and desktops around my house and I use those about 80% of the time. The kids lover my ipad, especially my 5 year old and they are on it the most.

Written on a laptop. And despite my criticisms, I do think the ipad is the best so far, but will never replace a laptop which is what I was hoping for.

Maybe you haven't used one of these....

Very handy, just plug in your camera or slide an SD card in, select the pics and download them.

I just bought my second iPad because either my wife or my 5 year old daughter are always using it. It's great for surfing the web, checking email, watching videos/movies, various apps and pandora of course. It has not replaced my laptop however I don't find myself lugging it around as much.

Yes, I know of them. I have an hdmi adapter for my van for the kids although I don't have any movies on it. Didnt feel like spending another $40 for a card adapter that will get lost. I have an amazon prime account and have access to hundreds of thousands of movies and tv series and they just added more. But I can't use any of them on my ipad which would be perfect for because it uses flash.
