PPOT is more than a regular forum: Craigster59
i've said it before. this place has become a pretty cool place to visit. sure we bicker and fight like old married people that hate each other sometimes. i'm sure people's IGNORE list are all over the place. :) (mines empty)
remember my family searching for LAKER tickets to fill a portion of my dad's bucketlist? i got a PM from Craig almost right away. no promises, but he may be able to help. then outta nowhere craigster comes through!! the man sends me 4 tickets to Laker versus the Spurs!! SA is my mom's favorite team. plus a parking pass!! my parents were so wishywashy..they didnt want to commit. Craig sent them anyways. my family is full of cynical people. i called them and told them of craigs gesture. i immediately got questions like: "how do you know this guy?" i dont. "then why is he sending you tickets?" silence (hard to explain PPOT) "is it a scam?" he said the tickets are a gift. the doctor moved some chemo treatments around so they can make the trip to LA. the plan is to have the family meet them so we can hang out. i hope to send my parents and their best friends to the game. (like a double date for them) my dad's health is fading, so i hope he has the strength to go in april. mentally, he is down..but Craig gave him a major boost. he is hoping to make the game..he has always wanted to see the lakers, and do some star gazing. on behalf of my family..i just wanna say: thanks Craig. this means alot to us. |
Unbelievable... and awesome!
|
This is one of the only friendly forums that I know of. I have low tolerance for BS and I come back here....'nuff said.
Craig, thanks for helping Vash. |
Thanks Craig.

I haven't had a Porsche in a few years, and I don't know when I will again. Regardless i visit almost every day. I don't really post much as I am out of my depth on so many things, but the knowledge experience and above all spirit of community keeps me coming back. I'm with the rest of you! Thanks to all the Pelicans who make this place what it is, and thanks to Wayne for giving us an online home!
|
Excellent!
|
Great story. Major Kudos to Craig, and a tip of the hat to Wayne for making it all possible.
My best to your folks, Vash. Hope they have a great evening. |

Awesome!
I don't post much. But I stop by usually at least once a day. Lots of good folks here. |
This is PPOT at its best.

/\ /\ /\ Agreed

I just mentioned the same thing to my boss several days ago.
Now I have two tickets on the 4th row up from the floor for a friend of mine who wanted to see a Phoenix Suns game. Working with one of the owners of the team does have some nice fringe benefits and its nice to pass around when needed. |
What Cliff failed to mention was that he would only accept the tickets if I could also help him scratch something off his 'bucketlist" with front row tickets to "Stars On Ice/ The Ice Skating Spectacular"! J/K Vash, like I told you, if it's in my power to help someone scratch something off their "bucketlist", it's a done deal.
And it works both ways, Cliff sent me some 'unobtanium" wine that I'm going to save until I can whip up a dish that can rival his culinary skills. I've gleaned a lot of great info from this BBS, not to mention many of you I consider great friends, it's just that we haven't met in person yet. Many fine men and women here who all would step up to help a friend. |
What would Brian Boitano do?
|
I'll bet I've met 100+ Pelicans from around the world, literally. Every single one was great and a time well spent.
|
Seriously, you guys are the most interesting group of people I have ever met. Thanks for being Awesome!

Some good stuff in this thread. Well done Craigster.
So why is this forum like this? I'm active on other forums but I always come back to this one. |
That's a great story and nice to know that Craig is such a good guy. I get the same tilted head response from family when I try to explain that someone is a "friend from the Internet". This place is not explainable to outsiders.
|
Explaining to your wife that you are meeting some guys for drinks that you met on the internet did require some time. She better understood when red-beard showed up at our house after it caught fire in early '10, he had a sizeable check and boxes of clothes all collected from strangers on the internet. We both cried, well not red-beard and I, but the wife and me. I had never expected it, Pelicans are good people.

Is this heaven?

So what we're saying here is that this place is made from Unexplainium.

I'm on here just about every day just to find out what's happening in the world. The people are simply the best and so helpful. I've visited other sites, (bmw), that's mostly visited by 20"yr wannabe's, who's best insight is the next drunk fest or hip-hop artist. I can't tell you how much I've learned about Porsches and everything else. Thanks to all.

Class act Craig, Very top shelf
|
Can't beat Pelican and PPOT. I've looked in on many other boards. This place and it's inhabitants are unique. And, yes, it's hard to explain to others that I've been talking to a bunch of car folks around the country and around the world on the same bulletin board for over a decade.

Good on ya Craig Wayne, thanks for the venue, seriously. |
Well done Craig...would love to wet a line sometime...even saltwater ;)

I lurk here almost daily as well, as it is an excellent place for both useful and not so useful information.
What I find most interesting is how many of the people on here are just average folks with better than average hearts. I would venture to guess that Craig is almost embarrassed from the attention that this thread generated because of his kind deed. Just a guy doing what he could to help someone out, not looking for attention or accolades, but good on ya anyway Craig. Another poster mentioned something that I went through as well, trying to explain to your wife that you are going to meet up with a bunch of guys from the Internet. Had the same conversation myself. Went something like, "You know, the guy I told you about that loaned me those tools." , then it was the guy from Reno is coming in town, etc, etc. Anyway that guy that loaned me the tools was also the same guy that came to my un-air conditioned garage two different Saturdays this past summer (hottest summer on record for Houston) to help get my heads back on and cams timed on my 930 engine. When I asked him about helping me with this task his first question was, "What kind of beer do you drink?". Won't mention him by name, pretty sure that's how he'd want it. Yea this is a pretty special place. Thanks! |
This place is really great. I appreciate it. Thanks Craig and Wayne. Thanks all of you.
