For real. I saw Star Wars the first week it came out. By accident. Went to see The Sting but it was sold out. Star Wars was cool but I never saw any but the original. Ive seen Blade Runner 5 times over the years.

I am really excited for this, hoping that it doesn't get too butchered. I didn't read the original novels, but did see the first 2-3 version of Blade Runner. The version with monologue by Harrison Ford is still my favorite version.

Saw it. Where was the editor? It was about 2:43:00 too long.

Sounds good. Can't wait to see it.

Saw it. I'm glad it was made, glad I saw it but pretty thin compared to the original.

I enjoyed it, but I don't think it holds a candle to the original. Some of the effects, atmosphere, and futuristic ideas are excellent, and the feel and music was right in line with the original.

Same.

Kinda interesting to think some experiences (in this case movies) have a finite life span and can not be replicated under different context (later in time) since we can't unsee or unknow things.

Star Wars was like that

At the time it was made, the original was state of the art, and nothing like it had ever been made before. It was captivating to younger minds. I am not going in expecting that experience, so I won't be disappointed.

We saw it, we enjoyed it, we will watch it again. However..."thin" compared to the original? The first movie was "grungy cop chases bad guys through city". It was as thin as they come. Pretty, unusual, poetic, but thin none the less. If anything, this one has a far more complex storyline, even if it seems somewhat derivative. I will give you that ultimately this one was "many groups hunting for the same treasure chest" trope, so being far more complex still makes it thin as well...noir ultimately is never very complex.

So, without spoilers, did anyone else feel that there were some MAJOR plotlines that got ignored at the end? Entire characters where I don't know what happened to them or where they are? Seemed kinda important to me...

We saw it on Saturday. Visually, I thought it was stunning; beautiful colors! It was about 30 to 45 minutes too long, but I enjoyed the plot. Some of the overly loud sound effects started to get annoying and fatiguing, but I'd see it again.

Word for word my opinion as well... You could have cut 5 seconds of each scene of Gosling staring longingly at nothing... Not his fault, cutting floor was left too clean - you could have easily made that movie 30 min shorter..

So, one question trying not to spoil things... That particular memory he had, how did that happen? Luck of the draw ? only some replicants get the special "true" memory or a subset of them, chosen how? and he happened to get that one that sent him on the chase ? Was that luck or did I miss part of the plot ?
