When did you join pelican?
2003 here, wow, that time went fast. I looked through, and some of you have been here since before the wheel was round.
|
It'll be 10 years in March. I lurked for probably 2-3 years before i actually joined, though. I was living in Big Spring, Tx in 1999 and remember seeing Early S Man lived in San Angelo, Tx. Some of the others I recall from that time are Old Skul, Wayne, Leland Pate, JackOlsen, etc.

there were a few of us on here before they switched over to this 'new' board. Im thinking it was 97 ish?? Anyway, we all had to resign up in 2000..
|
You wouldn't know it from my post count but I joined in 99. I tend to listen more than I talk.

Jul 11th 2000 Way too long ago |
6.5 years ago, or over a quarter of my life ago.
|
More than 10 years ago, as it shows in my sig. I guess that makes me a veteran here .
|
What is a senior member......an irrelevant old fart?
What was the question?:confused::confused: |
I had to post just to check! Lurk mostly now as well; still one of my fave sites.
|
Jul 2002.
My post count here pales in comparison to what it is on the 912bbs. Guess I've been hangin' out there a lot. |
since 2000, my how time flies
|
Dec 02', before you, now get off my lawn.

Not exactly certain. I bought a 325is around 02-03 and did a bunch of research / maintenance on it. I did join the board but don't recollect my handle. I do remember thinking that the Porsche guys were serious Kool Aid drinkers! Funny. I have been drinking the Porsche Kool Aid for 2.5 years and lurking here for about two years before that just picking up some knowledge.
There you go. Larry |
It'll be 12 years for me in May. I know one of my early posts was asking about some company call Motor Meister, and wondering if their engine rebuilds were any good.
|
I actually used Pelican when I was about 10 years old without even knowing it. I found a little info packet I printed off from the 924 tech forums when I got my 924. I joined once I got my 911, and have been loving it (the forum and the car) ever since!

1957 for me.........Had one of the very first computers on my block.....
|
I used to be on the pcapotomac forum. Great site, great people, but I MUCH prefer this site.
|

|

I joined after about a year after I bought the old E, thus my user name. I had been lurking all that time but had a question about dash knobs and my first post I believe was looking for information about them.
The car has moved to another owner (who might be a new Pelican as well), but you're still stuck with me. Pelican was indispensable to me through the time of ownership. I was able to re-index the rear T bars to get the ride height corrected, get the sunroof working and install pressure-fed tensioners (bought from a fellow Pelican, gasket set from our Host). Oil changes were a no-mess proposition, thanks to tips garnered here. Thank you. Les |
10 years next month...my goal, break the 1K post barrier by Dec!
|
Nov 2005
|
November 2004, apparently. Shortly after I brought the dead 924S I bought back to life. I was dealing with faulty speed / reference sensors and a bad DME at the same time. Very frustrating...
These days I read far more than I post, and normally just cruise OT. |
7/04/2007....
I need to cut back.... |
I would have a hard time without this place !
12 years and three 911's |

If I only had his money. In his day he was bigger than Leno and Seinfeld together.

September 10, 2001. Crazy timing...
|
Too much of my life has been spent here.

When I got my 914
|
11-20-2002. Two 911 projects later I find myself wondering what the heck I was thinking. Did I have some fun and learn a bunch? Oh yeah! Did I meet great people? A few. Were the long hours, stress, financial pressure, etc. worth it? I guess but not sure
I sure enjoy the reliability, economy, practicality, and fun of a hot hatch now though. I still love old 911s. I just don't know if I would ever do another resto-hot rod 911. Maybe if my financial situation changes dramatically! So why do I still post here occasionally and lurk about? I guess I have become accustom to the sensory inputs of this place (to loosely quote "Data"). Man, what a nerd I am! Troy |
May of '04..... Probably could have built an airplane and a violin or two with all the time I have spent here reading and posting.
