A lot of folks follow the threads that do not post.. I imagine some readers change their mind on various topics... Just don't expect to change the mind of those that post there. They are pretty certain of what they believe.

PARF isn't about changing minds. It's more about hearing peoples arguments for this or that.

Of course I do see that some people have ZERO space in their brains for more than One POV. That is, hearing the POV of someone else - a different POV- really upsets their apple cart. ...gets them all agitated. ...they feel the need to close their eyes, fingers in ears .. ."LALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU"

Very upsetting for some.

Every-time I venture into PARF this is just what is going on. No one will ever change their beliefs or change thier view. It is proven over and over. I am real glad it is there for all the folks that love to argue about the same things over and over and over and over. The arguments always break down to calling the other side stupid names. It is just like 1st grade.

Why not post on PARF, you trying to hide something , LIKE YOUR POLITICAL AGENDA. Maybe you are just not bright enough, so you post here... all your whining makes me sick. maybe if you improved your grammar and spelling, but no you think you have all the answers....well you are just plain wrong or stupid what is it ? come on what is it.....no gray areas here make up your mind, you you hypocrite

i used to like talking politics. i never wanted to change anyone's minds, i just wanted to discuss. instead i was called a "*******" and other nice things. i tried to explain to people that just because i was a registered democrat didnt mean that i was a left wing liberal commie. i dont believe in a 2 party system. i have never aligned myself 100% with any group. i dont live in a black and white world. there are elements of both groups that i believe in but i couldnt convince anyone of that. there used to be a disgusting prick named mule that i hope is no longer around who seemed to be the worst culprit when it came to labeling people and being extremely disrespectful. i guess in the end i just came to the conclusion that most of what is discussed over there was way beneath me and not all that intelligent most of the time and unfortunately i started acting the same way..getting nasty and generally not acting like the good boy my mama raised.

Glad it isn't just me. This thread can die now. My wife's grandmother used to LOVE to argue. Me? I get plenty of conflict at work. I just like peace and calm when I am on my own time.

When the person you're debating politics with resorts to the same talking points that you see from the national politicians - that's when you know it's not worth the debate.

Unfortunately, that's most people these days on message boards (not just here). Educated people know the real issues that aren't on the national headlines - which are often just fluff.

I enjoy the back and forth on PARF until it comes down to name calling and insults. Then I ignore the poster. I don't mind, and even enjoy an intellectual and spirited debate as long as it is polite. Personally, I wouldn't post something on PARF, or here or the 911 forum that I wouldn't say to a person's face. Others, not so much.

Never been there, never will. Who the heck has time to worry about politics anyway. Live your life, get a hobby or something.

I don't think a single thread there has gone an entire page without devolving, pretty incredible really. If it makes this part of OT better, what is the harm?

I tried PARF. Because I believe public policy discussions are important and interesting.

But their brand of discourse is not what I am looking for.
