More stupid ******** thieves.
No burglary this time.
Went to pay for a subscription Wed and it would not accept my Capital One card. Odd but figured something was up with the payment system so tried again yesterday and still NG so used an alternate payment method. All of my cards have my middle initial and the checkout form I was using did not have a spot for middle name which should not matter but I've seen weird stuff like that happen before. This morning one of my email accounts was not working. Coincidently one that I new was auto renewing yesterday. Log into my registrar to see what's up. My auto renew was on a card that I recently closed out so popped in the Venture One card and it did not take. OK, so now I know we have a problem. Just got off the phone with Capital One, someone tried to charge $150 worth of stuff on Tuesday and they flagged it. New cards on the way which is a pain in the *** but I'm happy that it was caught and no damage done. Wife used the card last at a local restaurant while out with the girls last weekend. Going to call around and see if anyone else had issues.

I had to replace two of mine in the past year. One is my use everywhere primary card. The other is strictly for Airline use. I checked my charges and nothing on the airline card could have lead to it being compromised, unless I have a keylogger on my PC. Makes me wonder.

Kind of thought it would be...thus helping the thieves continue their ways.
One tip..use cash in restaurants. Also, never let somebody take a card out of your sight to "run a tab".

I'm continually amazed by how good bank's fraud detection algorithms are. I'd really like to get a look at their models some time.

My debit card was compromised and my bank prevented any loss on my part. The local police actually did catch some bad guys at a local restaurant. My bank told me the name of the place and it is a nice place. Just one crooked employee.

My debit card was compromised once; I noticed the $2400 charge late on a Sunday night, and called the bank as soon as it opened Monday AM to cancel the card and get a new one issued. By the time I hung up from that call, I had a voicemail from someone in the banks fraud prevention department notifying me of hte abberrant charge.
A second person called within a half hour as well. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they picked up on it. Had the money back within a week of signing the claim paperwork

I noticed a 59 cent charge on my Visa card when I checked the account online. Googled the source of the charge & got a big red scam warning. Thew credit union took care of it that day. My credit union calls me even if I charge something in an adjacent town to where most of my charges happen. I'm glad of that actually.

I use my paypal debit card 99% of the time.....back up funded by my checking account, 1.5% cash back on all purchases, their fraud detection dept is awesome, customer service rocks and I get an email every time the card is used.
