Cajun was the first name. Glad that didn't happen.
Carrera is a Mexican name for race, I think.
Burrito or taco wouldn't be right.
Whatever they name it... I hope it sells.

hmm. . . is it going to be a cayman kinda sub-optimized, under-powered compromise betrayed? or is it going to be a real no-limits porsche ?

Remember when Porsche used to just make sports cars?! sigh.

something about VW and those desert related names they seem to like. How about Scirocco? Personally I like the numbers. Like 505 (not that I like a Peugeot) or 914. But then again, I am boring.

I really think they should name one of their cars Stuttgart.

Stupid name, dumb idea to have another SUV,

I love my pepper turbo, but i could use more room, they increased the wheelbase in the newer models, so i have to ask, what space are they going for? Smaller, bigger, lower...?

I fail to see where it fits. I can see t now, "so honey should i get you the Cayenne or the Macon"?

Porsche would be better off thinning out their 911 line IMHO

I think the Macan is supposed to be to the Cayenne what BMW's X3 is to their X5 (or Mercedes' GLK is to their ML/GL lines). A smaller and less expensive vehicle to get younger, less affluent buyers into the Porsche fold. And hopefully fuel future Porsche purchases as those buyers mature (and make more money). Hence, the original name for the vehicle wasn't Macan, but rather Cajun. As in, short for Cayenne Junior.

rusnak 02-18-2012 09:39 AM

Oh no. The Maxi-can is another hairdresser Porsche.

Maxi-can't !
