67 Impala

I was driving in the backroads of NM earlier today and saw on of the coolest cars, I turned around to see what it was, a 67 Impala. The owner came out and we talked for a little bit and he offered to sell it to me.

I have this feeling that it is just a bit too ghetto. I know, I know, drive what you want and who cares what others think. Still, opinions?

Ah yes, drum brakes and bias-ply tires with engine and suspension package made to go straight and fast.

Cool car, I'd consider it. You ain't going to put hydraulics on it to make it jump are you?

These don't look ghetto to me.

My first car was a '65. I'd love to have a '65 again if I could find one with no rust and a manual trans.

It's a great looking car. I'll go back on Saturday or Sunday and look at it closer. I was in a rush. I've never owned an American car so it would be a change for me.

If you get it, rebuild the front end with the new suspension bushings, made a whole lot of difference with my son's 72 Cutlass. Still steered like a boat, but better.

get the Hotchkis suspension parts, and they probably will be better than a boat

That vintage Cutlass would have coilover springs in the back. My buddy has a '70 that he put boxed lower control arms and a big sway bar on in the back, it is a W-30, or somtheing like that, enough torque to alter the rotation of the Earth., dig the old American iron.

I like about a '65 in an Impala, hard top coupe, though there was a '62 at the Autorama a few years ago that was a perfect resto, like it was brand new 409, better than brand new probably.

'67 Chevys !!!

Fond memories.

A '67 Impala was the car in which I learned to drive.

White, with a medium blue vinyl interior, a 327 and 4bbl. Definitely NOT ghetto.

At one point my dad asked why the speed alert on the family car was turned all the way off the end of the speedometer's travel.......Of course I couldn't tell him that my friends and I got tired of hearing it during a "let's see what she's got" high speed run on an almost empty local freeway.....

The first car I owned was a '67 Camaro, also with a 327 and 4bbl.

I sure wish I had either one of them now....

IMO, the 65-66 Impala are the best looking.

Ghetto - NOT

Something that looks like this - Ghetto? No way.

Just big classic 'murican muscle. Ideal for the Saturday night cruise. And car shows.

Yes, my Baby Boomer is showing. That and the fact that I'm originally from De-troit.

I can't tell you how many countless miles I have done in a 67 Impala Station Wagon. Special ordered by my Dad with a 396 and Turbo 400 trans. No a/c and miles of flatulence. He drove that car over 300K. Good lord, no wonder I was car sick as a kid.

Now me? I had a 63 4 door hardtop as my first car.

Like me a chevy.

Jack - I sometimes wish mine was a 4-speed. Mine's a "Hardtop Sport Sedan" (pillarless 4-door).

I've got a repro owner's handbook and even an original '62 sales brochure that I could scan in and post if people are interested.
