Cannons and mobile home parks after midnight

Not a good combo. Although it's sad that someone had to die, the comments are, um, thought provoking. BTW, can anyone win a Darwin Award in this situation? Calif. woman killed by cannonball fired by husband - Yahoo! News

The local sheriff has not release any additional details as of this afternoon and I am waiting to see what type of cannon it was and how it was fired off. If it was being "worked on" and was loaded with a load of black powder then it would take either a fuse like an old cannon or a percussion cap like my muzzle loaders use and those are extremely rare. It may have been a breech loader which are made now that take 10 GA shotgun shells so we'll have to wait and see. I would be curious to see how much beer they had drank and I'll bet they were into case #2 by that time........

Latest news on Fox 5 was they cannon owner had been "drinking slightly" he said and is not sure how the cannon went off? I found it strange that they were still waiting for a search warrant this evening so they could enter the trailer so they could search for the projectile(s) as the owner didn't remember what he had loaded! It appears they went in and did not come out the other side. One neighbor said they "had no reason to have a gun that big in a mobile home park" and the owner is still in jail for setting off an explosive device that caused death! The gunsmith (70+ years old) that did a trigger job and some other work on my 1971 Rolling Block had 3 patched holes in his frig and 2 more in the wall from 30+ years of gunsmithing work so I guess it can happen?!

thanks for the flash back...............some low life guys we knew in high-school upteen 30+ years ago were having a drunkin' party in their single-wide mobile home in a adult/senior trailer park (where they later stole the aluminum side off of the trailer for scrap before their lease was up/due..........) but they were highschool students so how they got a rental in the adult park who knows........ Anyways.... gads I must of been 18-19.....we stealthly walked into the trailer park around midnight, up to their trailer that was full of a dozen loud drunk/stoned guys, and quietly lit a cigarette, with an M-80 fuse stuffed halfway towards the filter.........oh my....... a smoldering Cig is a perfect 3-4 minute fuse.........we set said "party surprize" on the ground right next to the trailer........and while calmly walking away 4 minutes later heard the blast. Couple days later we heard through the grape vine a couple of our "friends" literaly sheet their pants when the M-80 went off. I still chuckle about that today.........fun stuff, thank god the internet hadn't been invented yet nor kids like today would be dumb enough to film and post it on facebook or youtube. heh heh, I think they got kicked out of the trailer park 2-3 weeks later after they stole the siding off it......

I may be wrong, but I think I heard on the news the guy got his powder from fireworks. What a bunch of idiots. But then there seems to be an over abundance of that type of characters around lately.

One of the fraternities at my alma mater, located on a hill, had a working canon. They fired tennis balls from it occasionally.

Heck, I'd hold my FIL's beer (IF he drank, which he does not) while he reloaded the black powder cannon. Fun times shooting it off! (I don't live in a trailer but I do live down by the stream with about 10 trailers parked around my driveway right now....)

I hate it when you're just sitting back having a brew and the wife comes in and says, "The cannon's making that funny noise again."

Let me think. Is there some way I can derive amusement out of some drunk killing his wife ? Um, ... Don't think so. Carry on. | ||
