There are lots and lots of good restaurants in Savannah,. Look around the river walk. Several bars along the river have good food too.

I used to go there on business frequently. I can't remember the name, but there is an excellent place roughly across the street from the HIE.

If you are staying on Hutchingson Island don't eat there. I did and besides real expensive the food was junk. Take the river walk and enjoy a few bars.
Paula Dean's place "Lady and Son" was pretty good. Not really special but OK.

Drinks at Rocks on the Roof, in the Boheiman Hotel. Dinner....... Garibaldies or The Pink House, down stairs only, not the main floor dining area. Vic's on Factors walk is good also. Avoid all restaurants on River Street, tourist traps. Also avoid the Lady and Son's, if you want real southern food go to Mrs. Wilks, lunch only.

And one more Circa 1875, corner of Brought and Bull. My first choice would be down stairs at the Pink House.

If you make it over the bridge to SC, on HHI, the best dining by far is The Studio.....incredible food and awesome atmosphere. Michael Anthony's is also excellent, though strictly italian. Kinda tucked away in the middle of nowhere, but not far away is a place call old house smoke house. The chef/proprietor studied under Paul Prudhomme and the food is awesome.

Ditto on the Pink House.
Ditto also on Mrs. Wilkes for a unique experience in southern dining. But no wine here. Also Pat Conroy the writer has a restaurant near Savannah, but I forget the name.

Paula's place in town was nothing special. Typical Southern food. We ate there this past New Year's Eve.

I would skip trattoria divina if you hear about it though...very over-rated. Wiseguys is good and reasonably priced, skull creek boathouse has a great outdoor bar right on the water and a pretty good sushi/ceviche bar. If you get the urge to go out, electric piano is great and always has live music.

I was there a couple years ago and ate at a little dive of a place called "Oyster Bar" on East River Street and it has a pretty good Low Country Boil. Mrs Wilkes Boarding house was good too, but more of an experience that just a place to eat.
In Hilton Head Island, the Skull Creek Boat House is excellent, as is the Plantation Cafe & Deli for breakfast and Giuseppi's Pizza & Pasta. |
