Take a look at Henry.
Henry Repeating Arms | Fine Rifles Made in America and Priced Right I can't really recommend one tho I bought a golden boy in 22 Mag. No rounds thru it yet. Well built and a lot better looking than what you have pictured. My price from Buy Mart was less than the Henry catalog. I do have a Mossberg shortshotspoon. Works fine & looks tough.

I would look at a Marlin or a used Winchester. Much better quality. The used Winchesters are pricey but they will really hold their value. Unless you look for a beater, I'd go with those two options.

Looks like they go for about $50 more than the basic Henry. Both have alloy receivers.
I'd echo aigel and pay the extra for the Winchester or Marlin. Jim

+1 on the Marlin or Win. The Henry rifles are made in the USA as well and are good shooters. They have "alloy" (potmetal like) receivers. I would buy the goldenboy if I had the jack in 22 WMR.

Does it have to be lever gun? That savage bolt action looks great.

I'm really happy with our Henry lever... Also have a Marlin semi-auto and it's a solid plinker as well.

Dar,
I have that same CZ rifle - very nice (okay, it's not a lever action).

Skip the Mossberg... The other options mentioned here are better choices!

Mossberg makes pretty darn decent firearms, but they do tend to be on the "utilitarian" end of the spectrum. I've never actually seen or handled one of their .22 lever guns, so I'll hold off commenting on it specifically.
Most of you know I'm a big fan of Marlin lever guns. Just personal preference, as there is little to choose between them and the Winchesters, either aesthetically or functionally. Both are great guns, and I've owned and shot most models from both companies. I'm down to just Marlins today, but I am feeling the need for another Winchester or two. Or three.. Don't rule out the Brownings, either. They are a fantastic little lever gun. I'm no fan of their clumsy BLR, but their little .22 is a real jewel. Best fit and finish of the whole bunch, if you like shiny things. On the left is my 39A Mounty, then my '94 .45 Colt, then my '95 .45-70. I like the Mounty over the standard 39A for its shorter barrel and straight grip. ![]()

Marlin...........
They used to make a neat little .22 lever gun called the Century Ltd. It had an octagonal barrel, special wood and enhanced sights. They haven't been made for years, but can be found on the auction sites or used in gun shops from time to time.
