Core 2 Duo coupled to Windows 7?

I need to get a simple computer for an employee. I can get an off-lease Dell with a Core 2 Duo processor, 2gb ram, and windows 7 32bit. I love love love my core 2 duo in my 2007 macbook pro (2.2ghz/solidstate). I dont know the clock speed on the Dell but just wondering if it will be fast for browsing and simple tasks with a Core 2 Duo and Windows 7 or will the Windows 7 overwhelm the older processor? I would love to hear that it runs quick and that I can upgrade to Windows 8 at some point too.

It'll be great, that's what we run in 90% of the machines at the office. I have very few users that need i5s or i7s.

If you want to get a bunch of extra speed out of it, add an SSD at some point.

Runs just fine on an older mobile dual core as well.

Ok cool! Thanks guys. Yeah I figured it shouldn't be that different running a Core 2 Duo versus an i3 or so (for my application).

Which version is your MBpro? I have a 2007 version 3,1 and have heard conflicting info about adding/benefitting from an SSD. Thanks!!

Just thought I would hop in here and thank you boys for all the help. The computer is spectacular and was so cheap. Win7 on the 2.33ghz core2duo and 2gb ram runs really fast! I have 2 more fb coming. I could have gone to 8gb but running win7 32bit and I really couldn't use more than 3-3.5gb of ram anyway. I might just upgrade to 64-bit win8 when it comes out.

I have an 07 2.2ghz core2duo pro. Do not doubt the benefits of an SSD. Please doubt the quality of the cheaper drives. Stick with a Kingston or the like.
