If you don't want to keep the motormouths on Facebook, then don't respond. It's like if you are at a party and you meet somebody that talks all the time, excuse yourself and say I need another drink(I wonder why). Communication should be two way. Pretty hard to talk to yourself on Facebook or anywhere!

I see some FB friends with over 1000 friends and I wonder if they have even met all those people, let alone if they really know them. I could pare down my list of 288 a little, but have some clients on there in case my emails to them bounce back and they end up somewhere else without remembering to tell me. Anyone who puts BS like what they ate for breakfast or are "checking in" at Home Depot gets removed from my news feed. I couldn't care less about that BS.

i've "unsubscribed" from everybody on my friend list. when i log in, i see nothing in the news feed. i don't care what other people are doing. it's simply a way for old co-workers and classmates to contact me. a little extreme, but now i don't ever have to see stupid posts from people.

I recently pared my friend list down to 26 from a high of 118. I made the early mistake of adding professional contacts to FB and have since 'transferred' them a more appropriate venue - LinkedIn.

Sorry I have a life and I like living it; my friends are in my phonebook. I just don't get the attraction. This comercial sums it up for me:

I joined facebook about a year ago so I can see pics of Giada, my one year old neice. Her mom, (my sis-in-law) posts tons of pictures of her on FB - and for that reason, it is worth it.

I have about 50 friends on FB -- mostly family, close friends, and old college friends. For the most part, my 'friends' don't post too much -- then there are those that have to post EVERYTHING they do.

A friend of mine posts "G'nite neverland" every freakin' day. Ok - we get it - you are going to bed. Yahoo. You have accomplished what every other person in the world has accomplished - you know at the end of the day it is time to get some sleep. Yahoo. Of course this person also posts every morning a new 'clever' saying about coffee. Like "Coffee - the best medicine." great - you like coffee. And his is constantly posting about stupid, mundane stuff.

I admit to posting about food I ate twice, and here are the circumstances:
1. Mrs. Z was visiting Giada and family in AZ, and I posted what I cooked and ate for dinner in order to reassure Mrs. Z that I was eating a healthy meal.

2. This February, I had a business trip which took me to Germany. Since we were in Woerth, for dinner one night, we skipped over to France to eat some Torte Flambe. Since my friends and I don't experience this type of food or location every day, I thought it was worth posting.

Now, it's getting late -- so G'nite neverland!

One thing that pisses me off is the facebook internet. I have to sign up with my name and participate to see it.

Z-man - It is great you get to see pictures of your neice, but what happened to a plain webpage or a picture service account? You basically got conned into joining FB to see your baby relative ...

G
