Amen to that! I know the phrase "dying doing what he loved" is rather cliche, but I can't think of a better way to go. Hopefully the family will find some solace in that as well. RIP.

That is spot on. The actual death from burns would be horrendous but at 77 I would think that the senses would be somewhat dulled. Plus u need strength and stamina to exit a burning a/c as long as u are physically capable. In the meantime I have a mother 94 in assisted living in England who does not want to live anymore and a father in law in Edmonton who is 96. The latter two have no quality of life. They don't read, just sit there and nap off and on. Yes my condolences to the family of the deceased. As the other poster says, died doing what he loved best. RIP.

Wow, really sorry to hear this. I have lost a number of friends and acquaintences in warbird accidents. Yes, they died "doing what they loved," but I can sure tell you that they would rather still be with us verus the alternative.
Sad to hear of this. I am going to miss seeing him at Oshkosh. God Speed Howard.
