men's slippers

Do they still make men's slippers? I've been looking for slippers to wear around the house, just the ordinary "loafer" style that used to be so common back in the day.

I spent 3 hours at the mall yesterday (not my idea of fun), going to all the major retailers. I went to the shoe departments and the men's wear departments, and talked with the sales reps. The only retailer who still sold slippers was Nordstrom, and they wanted over $100. That was a jaw-dropper.

I didn't expect this to be so difficult. It seems odd that stores sell men's robes/ bathrobes, but not slippers. Don't men wear slippers anymore? Are we supposed to wear flip-flops? What is the world coming to...

Mail Order. L.L. Bean.
Everything is sort of a moccasin style now. So if you're looking for something that Fred MacMurray would wear, you're probably out of luck.

That is strange because in Edmonton , Canada we have lots of slippers. There are mocassin style plus regular style probably made in China. In Canada here when u go to a friend's house you are expected to remove your shoes. Having slippers it feels more comfortable than having socks on only. There is a business opportunity here, don't let it slip by u

My wife picks up house slippers for both of us in Chinatown. Very inexpensive, and they do the job adequately. Cloth or rubber sole. Did I say dirt cheap?

I buy them for my dad almost every year and they're usually on sale at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc. They are cheap and easy to find anywhere. He wears them out about once a year too.

+1 to moccasins. You can get 'em with rubberized sole so they're good for going downstairs, outside, etc. if you have to also.

Created as a high-performance driving shoe, this traditionally-styled genuine deerskin moccasin is super comfortable, too! The long-wearing nub sole provides traction when using the accelerator, clutch or break while the heel bumper cushions against wear and tear. The heel-to-toe cushioned deerskin insoles give you day-long comfort whether behind the wheel or about town by foot. Color is Mocha.

I'd go for these.

LL Bean is out of stock of the style I like until July 2nd, so it's good to have all these other excellent ideas. Thank you, I'm looking at all of them.

It's always tempting to drive up to Canada, and go to a real brick-and-mortar store. The local Walgreens and Rite Aid here don't carry men's slippers.

And Sixtie, as Mr Spock once said, I will consider it...

Good Old Days store has them.

I've been thinking about this too. I'm ordering from there.

I have a pair of Crocs Santa Cruz loafer slip-ons. They are canvas uppers with a soft cushy rubber sole. Extremely comfortable to wear around the house. A little pricey at around $40 - $50, but they hold up well.

See more here.

My advice: Find a "romeo"-style slipper. Heel-less slippers suck, IMHO. Romeos have a two-piece upper. A front piece and a heel piece. The two pieces sometimes overlap. Like a '53 Buick Skylark, and a host of other automobiles. There is a long front fender, and a shorter rear quarter panel. Sometimes these two pieces are separated by a bit of elastic. They are easy to slip into, and made of leather so they can be worn on your trips to the mailbox or garage. Some guys wear the regular, outdoor version of these things every day, because they are so comfortable.
