I have several 64GB USB drives. I agree that DVD and Bluray are going to be going away soon. Imagine buying a USB drive instead of a bluray disk.

This is so true. I have a blu-ray player in my house that's never seen a blu-ray disc. I don't need them since all of the new blu-ray players are DLNA capable. The player simply talks to my NAS and plays all of my movies over the stream. Bridge over the river kwai in 1080p is very nice.

I rent a lot of DVD movies from the library, and I'd say at least 1/4 of them are starting to spiderweb at the center......Even the new ones.
So you purchase "the rights" to media content, and then the physical storage device is lost. What's next? What are your rights? The all-in-one personal computer will be under attack in the next decade. Mabye even lost. Companies will sway consumers to purchase proprietary platforms for specific uses, and then you're stuck purchasing McApple product versions for everything. Change companies, and you'll have to start from scratch. It's "AOL Internet" all over again. |
