Bought something that was not right on PP now seller wants me to pay return ship?

Could use some input from the PP crowd.

I purchased a "complete wiring harness" from another Pelican member on the 911 parts for sale section for $115. Shipping time was excellent and it arrived soon.

I open the box and the "complete wiring harness" is anything but that, being the wiring from the DME computer under the drivers seat back to the engine fuse block and thats it. Complete in my feeble mine means everything, especially the under-dash and trunk wiring, which is what I really needed.

I emailed the seller and he said "sorry for the mis-understanding and I do have more wiring that I can send you (for an additional charge) or you can return it and I will refund your money."

He seems to think that the "complete wiring harness" that I thought I was buying is worth at least $1000, so I sent him links to people selling complete wiring harnesses on PP for $150-$200. Did not phase him so we have now agreed to refund my money.

Problem is that now he wants ME to pay to ship the old wiring back to him for HIS mistake. He continues to say that "the buyer always pays the return shipping" and am trying to figure out where he is getting this because when its MY mistake I have always paid both ways, as it was MY mistake, not the buyers.

What does the PP brain trust say to this?

I read the thread where you bought those. He said,

Quote:
No, they are as complete as they are in the car.
Then he said on the same day, 4/15,

Quote:
No I already have them out. I keep forgetting I did not post pictures. Sorry
I would have a hard time with just this, let alone how much harness is being represented. The other problem I have is he is selling a "power" e-brake ass'y. WTF?

Complete = complete.

Did you pay with Paypal? If you dispute as "not as advertised" you'll get the funds back immediately and they'll ask questions later. He'll wish he had just paid the return shipping.

Look at it this way.............

If it costs you $10-15 to send it back, that is a pretty inexpensive lesson to find out what kind of person you are dealing with! Probably not worth getting all torn up over!

BS.
This is why people keep getting away with stuff like this.
Don't eat it Joe.

Thanks Dan!

Fred, you and I have done business and we trusted each other. The transaction went well and I would recommend you and whatever you do to anyone on Pelican. This gent I am dealing with now will not get the same positive feedback and for a good reason.

I did nothing wrong and should not lose a penny. That said, its going to cost me anyways a good half hour out of my life boxing the thing back up and taking it back to get shipped out. Who pays for that? No one... and while its only 30 minutes, when I was 20 I could have cared less but now that I am almost 60 its 30 minutes out of my life that I will never get back nor be able to enjoy again.

Lee, good call! Just disputed it and told PP that I want my funds back.

You know there are always two sides to a story. And I have tried to be as resonable as possible. It is a " complete wiring harness" for the dme and engine. I apologized for the misunderstanding and asked for him to send it back whichever way he like ( 8 dollars) parcel post. And I will issue a full refund. I am no Scam artist who wanted to send him a part that was incorrect. I will issue a full refund if he ships it back. I as well as many others here have purchase parts from vendors and private party that where incorrect. And I have shipped them back. Without getting bent out of shape over it.

I am not "bent out of shape" over anything. You advertised and I bought a "complete wiring harness" and was shipped a DME and engine harness. False advertising...

Its YOUR mistake and there is no reason why I should have to pay a penny to ship YOUR mistake back to you.

Look how fired up you are sending me threatening emails over this. This is absolutely insane. I must ask are you this bored that you want to waste this much time on this. He sends me treating emails about "being careful what my next step is." he will charge me for his time. Please don't be ridiculous. I feel like telling you how much my time is worth but I am not going to do this. It is absurd send the part back I'll send the money.

Zeke. Please relax yourself too. What I said was as complet s it is in the car. As in the complete wiring harness I sent him is as complete as it was when it was in the car. Also a power heat ebrake assembly. Obviously the first post I had without pictures did not work so well. But keep your "wtf" and attitudes out of it. This is just a hobby for me that I enjoy. A simple misunderstanding between two people which I have offered to settle without complication has just become very complicated.

Right or wrong, black or white, when in doubt the seller needs to pay for the shipping. If it's really $8 as you say, then why is it an issue?

I'm sure that, in person, you'd buy Joe an $8 beer, so why ruin things over $8? Or $16? Or $50? Big deal, life's about relationships, not a few bucks here or there.

Get the transaction over with....
Whether there was an eventual exchange of goods or not, it seems both parties wanted a satisfactory result.

Well Shaun...er I mean Joe....When I purchase a Spoon and then when received it ain't what I thought it would be I HAVE to pay the return shipping.

Conversely when someone buys something from me and returns it, he has to pay the return shipping.

The idea here is that you initiated the the purchase by contacting him in the first place.

THAT IS THE WAY IT IS IN THE SPOON BIZ AND COLLECTABLE BIZ>>>consider it the price you have to pay to play.

Now you are pissing me off. Please prove by showing any email I have sent threatening you... False advertising is one thing, but LYING as you have done above is another. I never threatened you, not one time. Telling you to be careful like I did was just a warning that you keep playing games like this and I will start charging you for my time in returning the harness.

Tabs, sorry my friend but he advertised a "complete wiring harness," nothing more, nothing less and thats NOT what I received. A dispute with PP has been started and should they not do something and soon a call to AmEx's platinum line will get things taken care of. All I have to do is show them his posts where he admits sending me something other than what I purchased.

Also please explain how when I have done nothing wrong that I have to pay to learn a lession? What have I done wrong? What lesson should I learn other than not to every buy anything "sight unseen" again?

FWIW, there are brand new and complete aftermarket wiring harnesses available for only a few hundred dollars.

Joe, you are complelty out of control over this, but I do not have the time to deal with this or to resort to bragging about my platinum card. I will help your obviously unhealthy bank accounts by sending you a full refund along with the return shipping under two conditions,
1. Retract all of your crazy rants that your posted about me, including your beware of seller which was completely uncalled for.
2. Send the harness back as you recieved it.
Oh and 3,
Please don't talk to me about your time being worth anything as it clearly is not since you have all day to bash me and post these rediculious posts.

I agree...the older I get, this is no small matter. I have less time than money.
.
I had a similar deal go sour 10 days ago (moto parts)...not Joe's seller. I ate the $12 fee to send back. I wanted nothing to do with his unconsciousness.
