Malaysian GP **Spoiler**
Another great race. A solid drive from Alonso for the win & an amazing finish for Perez. Of course, the rain helped to boost the entertainment value.

He might be a dick, but he CAN drive. The Ferrarinistas on Fchat are calling for Massa to disappear & Perez to take his seat.

He seems like a good guy and is well liked at ferrari but he won't make the end of the season if he keeps driving like he has recently. I like him but think he should have been replaced at the end of last season. Maybe has pictures of someone at ferrari with a goat? ![]() |

I stayed up until 2am this morning until finally giving up. I added an extra hour to the dvr recording and turns out it was just enough. The entire household watched the race and no one was bored. We were rooting for Perez - great run by him and Sauber.
Anyone figure out why Red Bull wanted Vettel to abandon? I assume it has something to do with engine or trans changes for DNF. That was pretty hilarious though - "stop now" - "no, keep going" - "no, stop right now!" I doubt that Massa will be in his seat for Shanghai. Alonso certainly can drive - now he's number 5 on the all time win list? And so can Hamilton. McLaren certainly had their problems in the pit box today. Awesome race. |

Yeah, now even Whitmarsh (Williams) said Massa will probably go before China. Re Vettel, I also wondered about those transmissions. Supposedly he had radio problems in the latter part.

I think that shot to the head took the "something" out of him.....a shame.
Who is available to plug into his seat?

I do feel bad for Massa, but he has been given chance after chance - I'm sure because of his big accident. He might get one more race; probably not though. Too bad; I understand Ferrari is going to make major revisions to the car for the European races.

I noticed that Hamilton was very careful on the start and restart of the race, but his pit crew threw the race away. Watching Button's crash, I thought it was Hamilton at first, purely because of the aggressive driving style during the pass.
I did notice that Hamilton did congratulate Perez and Alonso after the race. My DVR cut off before the interviews, but I hope that Hamilton wasn't too critical of the team.

My DVR cut off the end of the race, but Speed always does a rebroadcast in the afternoon. I just avoided the internet and worked outside until the rebroadcast was done. I just picked up the race and saw the ending & interview.
It was a great race.

That was an excellent race.
Nice to see Schumacher towards the front in qualifying, but I think the Mercedes are too hard on tires with a full fuel load If they can figure that out it could be a very interesting season. I am surprised Massa still has a job (battling for position with Chaterham???), Kimi is not disappointing, seems 2 years off didn't really hurt him, but I guess it depends on which Kimi shows up. I think the "Driven" Kimi (who raced the last 2 grand prix) will do well, but if the "I just want to get drunk and bang strippers" Kimi starts showing up like most of his last season at Ferrari he could languish mid pack. I think Perez really could have got past Alonso, except for his mistake (whether that was influenced by the "We need this position" radio call breaking his concentration we will never know). It was cool to see a new face, and a genuinely happy one at that, on the podium though. |

Thankfully that extra hour on the Tivo was just enough...
Good race and Perez was excellent! Great start to the season and much better than the "vettel and weber" show we had last year.

How long has it been since a Red Bull driver was NOT on the podium?

Was thinking that as well and it was interesting to watch Vettel being an "also ran" in a car that was equal to the rest of the pack.
