Do you carry? Chamber empty? One in the chamber?

I recently received my Wisconsin CCW permit a few months ago. I carry almost always but at first I was nervous about carrying with one in the chamber as I was new with pistols. A conversation with my brother-in-law revealed he always carries with one in the chamber but with the safety on.

This got me to thinking about my Pelican Parts brethren, if they carry and if they carry with one in the chamber or not.

What say you?

Speedy

ALWAYS with one in the pipe. I know of two justified self-defense shootings in the past year where the good guy lived only because he had one in the pipe and only one hand avail. for firing.

well if yer a cop or your in combat or da ghetto , by all means i would carry condition red.

but if yer smart, and lead an active lifestyle bouncing around all over hell, and your being aware of your surroundings................NO i would NOT carry condition red, unless of course you like AD's.

thats me call it a character flaw. i like being sargent safety. and alive and not sued into the stoneage.

because if the poo goes down, it will be a pico second and i will have racked my slide, dropped the safety and yer gonna get 13 so fast...........well lets just say you will never know what hit you.

and thats why i carry daily the safest gun known to man at this time. HK's! and when i say daily............i MEAN ANYWHERE/EVERYWHERE just like AMEX dont leave home without it.

FUBARS(AD'S) are ALL OPERATOR ERROR!

One was, but the guy left his truck in gear with foot on the brake while blocked in at a red light. The other one was a guy at a gas station in OH fending off a carjacker.

I've been carrying with one in the pipe for 20 yrs. and have never come close to having an AD. As long as you use a quality holster and keep your triggert covered at all times, you're safe. Muzzle discipline is the backup safety in case of an AD.

10-4 on that. holsters are key to retention.

well both those incidents are a good sales feature of revolvers. one handed operation.

me? i bounce around all day in out up down in out up down and really cant afford any accidents(can anybody?). plus with all of my training the bottomline is situational awareness.

thats SITUATIONAL AWARENESS! no different than hunting. ya gots to know what the hell is around you at all times..............or BE EATEN ALIVE!

my daily holster is a serpa. very happy with it for 3-4 years now. my dillon leather holster from the heat and sweat finally gave up the ghost. it became stretched and would not retain spoon.

bouncing around in the outback come rain snow sleet sun dust mud, i like BIANCHIs military line of holsters, with nylon flap. keeps most of the crap off of them when getting splattered smothered and covered by the elements.

for the models that dont fit bianchi or blackhawks serpa's , i have gone with SPECTER GEAR MOLLE holster for my molle vest.

i can carry it drop leg, carry it across chest and carry muzzle down.

for my smith model 29 nickel 4" .44 mag i use an across the chest (horizontal) holster when fishing from westwoodlanding.com

I have plenty of semi-autos with DA trigger pulls the same weight as those on my wheel guns. SIGs are the best for this because of the decocker and hammer that can be cocked for S/A if conditions allow. Just about all modern semi-autos have firing pin blocks now that pnly let the pin move when the trigger is pulled, not when the gun is dropped.

I only carry guns with NO SAFETY and a HARD TRIGGER PULL...example Ruger 380 lcp or North American .32 Guardian. I feel that a lot of semiautomatic have a very light trigger pull and a safety; which I look at as being less safe. Yes, one in the chamber.

oh heres some coooool news;

"gov brewer" signs HOUSE BILL 2728 allowing suppressors for hunting. its a done deal. its da law.

and this is all the impetus i need to get my trust and buy a couple of suppressors. screw the cleo sign off. with a trust i just send in my papers to ATF. if ya do a cleo signoff that is ONLY FOR THAT ITEM! so each and every time ya wanna big boys toy(FFL stamp for sbr/suppressor/full auto) ya need to get another cleo signoff. with a trust ya just send in yer paper to ATF and wait until ya clear and then yer legal beagle.

look up SRTARMS.com my ffl has the home boy hookup. hes a DOD contractor up in camp verde ,az. they are made of titanium. my ffl has been playing with cans for years now and he knows his poo and whats junk.

there is now a suppressor that will hook up to .22-9mm .45 barrels ie. one can does it all. obviously if ya have all the barrels threaded the same.

aka "mix and match" spoon to spoon be it if yer going fer deadly bunny wabbits all the way up to killer elk!

man a can on my .338win mag would fer sure make the world a quieter place. that damn 26" barrel w/muzzle break will break yer ear drums in the next county. there is so much muzzle blast i HAVE TO HAVE THE BARREL beyond the overhang at ben avery or i blow the roof tile off! its wicked and not fun to be around with out el supremo "EARS" on.

p.s they(SRTARMS) are suppressing .338 lapuas! and dats a hell of a big bang theory! down to 138DB!

I just applied for mine... I think I would only carry position one in an area where I felt there was a good chance I need it, and I tend to avoid those areas... AKA I don't see myself carrying with one in the pipe....

heres what my old CCW instructor(ex french foreign legion) told us. if you are involved in a shooting. the attorneys are going to have your gun torn apart and looked at for any/all modifications. ie. modifications to a jury mean yer a GUN NUT!

if you carry with a round in the pipe. some juries can possibly conclude YOU were looking for trouble, you have modded the spoon and yer using wazoo killer diller blammo ammo bunker buster bullets.

in the case of a revolver this doesnt really apply.

but if you were involved w/a semi auto, and you told the jury that you were in fear of your life to the letter of the law, and you had to rack the slide, then disengage safety before firing. that in and of itself shows you WERE NOT LOOKING FOR TROUBLE as with someone who is cocked and locked ready to rock.

thats just what i have been told. but the guy up north who was attacked by this crazy mofos dog and then the crazy mofo attacked him and he shot him, well the courts went after him as a GUN NUT just because he carried a colt delta elite 10mm.

yes a 10mm = YOUR A GUN NUT LOOKING FOR TROUBLE!

shhesh cant believe they came up with that but they did.

he ended up going to prison and then thru legal wrangling when the law was changed where you no longer have to prove your innocence, but the state must prove you are guilty. he was released from prison. the guy who attacked him had a string of R.O.s against for stalking etc and was found to be mentally deranged, to the point of getting into a fight with a college campus cop. so yeah bad guy had priors, but still jury felt a 10mm was overkill and he was a gun nut!

One ready to go. Then again my primary is a .38 SPL. It's always like that

I only carry chambered if it's a DA with a physical safety-otherwise NO.
