BBC News - Google gets Nevada driving licence for self-drive car
The beginning of the end? In 30 years will we be allowed to drive our cars? |

They should allow that in everywhere. Since the advent of smart phones, a number of local drivers seem to be just passengers in self-drive cars.

There is for sure a HUGE market for the self driving car. I know of several people that see a car as a big expensive appliance. The only time that car gets washed is when they take it to the dealer for the required maintenance. If you ask them what type of car they own they would tell you what color it is.
Well over half of the drivers drive around with a phone stuck to their head, or in front of them texting.

I'm not sure I could just sit there and let a computer drive my car.

Does this mean we could get in the back seat and have a cocktail while we jump on our mobile hotspot?? If so I'm all for it!

per the article: "The vast majority of vehicle accidents are due to human error,"
Nominating that for the O-rly award. I mean, what's the human to automated car ratio? ![]() And when the self-parking cars stop, confused, half way in the space, that is not an accident? ...or just human error on the part of the programer?

due to human error (rather than equipment failure such as steering failure, brake failure or structural collapse.) Having said that, at least if the computer is driving, you can be pretty sure it's not doing its nails or eating a BLT. Best Les
