Argo

They just released the trailer for a film I worked on last Fall named "Argo". Directed by and starring Ben Affleck (I thought The Town was done well) and co-starring Bryan Cranston and John Goodman.

Not sure if many are aware that during the Iranian Hostage Crisis in 1979, 6 Americans escaped and hid at the Canadian Embassy. An elaborate scheme was developed to get them out involving a fictitious Sci Fi film that was reported (in Variety and Hollywood Reporter) to begin scouting film locations in Iran. This was the ruse to be able to fly them to Canada and get them back to the U.S.

A very interesting story and testament to the friendship and goodwill of our Northern Neighbors. Should be a good film. Story here.....

I saw it at one of the new luxury theaters a couple weeks ago. It was very good, and I don't like going to the movies. I knew quite a bit about the hostage crisis previously, but nothing about the 6 at the Canadian embassy. The movie is a bit fluffy, and you know right away its a Ben Affleck movie, casting himself as the hero. Still worth it, though.

Saw it with my wife (Thursday is date night).

Very very well done!

Kinda stressful (or you could say action packed), not my type of movie, wife about ripped my thumb off toward the end of the movie.

However I would recommend it.

Sit through the credits and see how accurately they matched the actors with the real people... very cool.

Only one techy point nit pick... the chasing the 747 down the runway...

I remember the Candians getting some of our people out. I definitely want to see this movie.

I remember it well.
My Uncle was very high up in the Government.( The secret part)
Coded messages.
Pretty cool stuff for me, as a young guy, to hear sitting around the dinner table.

Evil finds a weakness, then exploits it. Carter was that weakness. Looks like things don't change much.

The Canadian role is downplayed, according to the actual people that were involved.
Typical Hollywood. no big deal.
Unless you envision Argo as being historically accurate.

According to one of the escapees, it was not that accurate.

That said, it showed the enormous generosity (and balls) of the Canadian Ambassador and his wife.

Thank you Canada eh!

OK I will recant my statement just because I don't know how historically accurate the movie was...

In the movie the Canadian ambassador and his wife had massive cajones...

I won't say anything more because I don't want to be a spoiler for those of you who have not seen the movie.
