Don't litter in my neighborhood!

So just now I watched a green Jeep Cherokee drive down my street, crack open the driver's door, and drop a half-consumed can of Coor's Light out the car. Back tires ran it over in the process. The guy cruised down a couple more blocks and turned onto a cross-street. Figuring he was headed to the local junior high school (which had an event tonight) a block away, I picked up the can, headed over to the school, and located his truck in the parking lot. Hood still warm. So not being one to vandalize (though in the guy-world of doing things I think the consensus is that it would be fairly well justified) I left the empty under a windshield wiper. He'll know why when he sees it. He probably won't give two s**ts, and just toss it onto the ground, but he'll recognize it when he sees it, nonetheless.

Man, I'm still pissed.

Nice one!

I'm sure you'd have this in LA, but isn't there a hotline to report a litterbug? In my city, we can call a 1800 number and lodge a report for smokey vehicles or people throwing garbage out of their cars.

I once watched a new neighbor (not on our block, but around the corner) drive down the street and deposit a well used tissue/kleenex on our street. She obviously didn't notice me as she did it.
I was pissed too, just like you. So, I went into the house and typed up a note on the computer. It politely welcomed them to the neighborhood and wished them as much fun getting the note off their windshield as I had picking up after them.
The next morning (I leave for work at a VERY early hour) I calmly stopped by their house and plastered the note to their windshield with a very liberal amount of vasaline petroleum jelly.
The next time I saw them drive down the street they had their window shut tight.
Then there was the time the bangers that used to live across the street deposited their coke cup in my driveway, again, right in front of me. My wife thought I was gonna get shot when I calmly approached their car, baseball bat in hand, and asked if it was theirs and would they mind NOT thrashing my 'hood 'cause they sure as hell didn't want me to follow them home and thrash theirs. They picked it up and I never had a problem after that with them.
Sometimes you just have to let the punks know you won't take any of their crap.

You should have let the air out of their tires too (in a non-destructive way). The time it took them to get that fixed would have been enough to make sure they were driving sober. Effin dirtbags. Seriously, drinking while driving. Honestly this one is obviously so stupid that nothing will get through that thick skull.

Uh oh... he's got your fingerprints now. You're screwed.

Yep, removing the valve stem cores would've been the ticket. With a note.

placing a small stone under the valve cap and then screwing it back on will deflate the tire ,
and the stone may never be noticed when the cap is removed as it falls out of the cap

Get three of your friends to hold him down while you lodge the coors can firmly in his lower colon. He'll get the message. Even more so if it was a tallboy can.

I would have called the cops to report a drunken driver and let them wait for him to get back in the car.

It's obvious he's drunk, look at that parking job.

letting air out of a tire is surprisingly loud. not for the faint of heart.

here in norcal..somebody tosses out an alum can..five homeless guys would monkey roll on it, for the 4 cent recycling fee.

Uh... I hate litterbugs... I live a block from a very nice park... so nice to see piles of trash on the grass a few feet from a garbage can!

Good job Noah!

Hate to be a buzz kill... but if you mess with someones tires
A) If caught you could go to jail.
B) Person returns to car and doesn't notice flat tire(s) drives off, has an accident due to flat tire, innocent people get hurt.

Carry on...

the key is to not completely remove the valve stem. only loosen it enough for a barely audible hiss. tire'll go flat in a couple of days.

Unfortunately most cities won't do that. Just not enough officers to sit on a car for a couple of hours in the hopes that the guy calling wasn't lying/wrong and that the guy will be driving when they leave. In theory it makes sense, in reality in generally isn't going to happen.

If they wanted to they could sit on your local pub and lodge 2-3 drunk drivers in the same time.

It's hard to believe people still litter, but I see it all the time. It boils my blood, but most of the time there is no record of the act. Of course an open container is problematic so I see why he doesn't want it in the car, but I'll bet he treats non-alcoholic beverages the same.

My own solution has been to clean up the road side near my house, keep it mowed and hopefully it will make the litter bugs think twice before discarding their trash in public. My thinking is if there is trash lying around they'll be more likely to add to it, if it looks neat and clean perhaps they'll think twice.

Back when I had my 914 I was driving along and my passenger tossed his Dr. Pepper can out the window. I did not say a thing, I just turned around walked off the road where it landed and picked it up. I placed it on the floorboard next to his feet. Then I said never ever litter from my car.

A few years later he admitted he felt about two inches tall at that moment. He reformed and is not a non litterer.

Litter is one of my hugest peeves. ( If youve read my posts on any of the recycling/plastic bag/water bottle threads youll see..) Litter makes my nuts. People suck.
Last yr I was stopped at a red light at one of the major intersections here. I was behind a Mercedes SUV, woman driver w/three kids. All of a sudden I see her window roll down , and out comes two Mcdonalds bags, followed by one of those cardboard trays with four cups on it. Just tossed them right out, wasnt even the slightest bit discreet about ! I was like WTF!!! I rolled down my window and started screaming like a maniac. at her. she just kept hers up the light changed and I follwed her for the next mile or so pulling up next to her yelling screaming that shes was a disgusting pig, nice example to set for your kids, etc etc..
When I got back to work they said I was still shaking, I was so pissed.
