I guess such huge graduating classes is just another sign of our population explosion.... cities getting bigger, towns and villages getting bigger.... jails and prisons full to overflowing.... available space filling up... surely this can't continue. Right now we are turning and turning in the widening gyre, but the gyre only has a finite amount of room.

Alternately, you could have a DNR officer in the room with a tranquilizer gun. Anyone who cheers could be put to sleep.

My son graduated on Sunday in a class of 818. They called all the names as the students crossed the stage and shook hands with the principle in about 1 hour. There was cheering for almost every student and it didn't slow things down a bit.
