Detroit Indy
What's happening right now at Indy race is not good for Indy. They should have been better prepared for this race. imo Indy is struggling enough as it is, i could be wrong and I do love Indy and wish them good luck.

Some how I do expect more from a major series like Indy. Like F1 coming to Indy and finding out they didn't have tires that could run there. Like Cart going to Texas to find the drivers couldn't handle the Gs. Now this!! Fans, Teams, everyone has a right to expect that the folks that run these top tier series would do their homework and make sure these farces don't happen.

Can't believe they can't do a better job of repairing the road surface knowing it is going to get that kind of abuse. It was an embarrassment for Detroit, Indy Racing and Michigan. All they did was pour tar filler into those huge crevasses. It was clear the surfaces were not even prepared properly. Crazy!

Consider this situation the best representation of the league.

Similar mess happened at Zolder (Belgian GP) in 73... overnight repairs w/quick dry concrete were the fix...
Track issues aside, I dislike street courses anyway.

The CEO is Brian Bernard. Nuff said, end of story, sad leader who has no clue.

What, they didn't have the orange barrels out as part of the race course already? I figured that would be standard for a race in Detroit.
![]() I saw some local coverage tonight and the anchors were trying to keep happy faces on. The Indycars don't do anything for me but I would have loved to been able to see the Rolex cars.

What a C.F.
Anything for a buck. The track was too rough, they did a mickey-mouse job prepping it, and it could have cost a driver's life. One chunk hit a driver's helmet and broke his mirror off. Another sent a car into the wall. Yet the sheep uh I mean drivers were too afraid of penske to say sheet in the on-camera interviews. They had to go along with whatever happened and not speak out or they might get in trouble. Even the go-daddy guy who got sent into the wall when his front tires were launched skyward from a chunk of pavement toned it down as "oh well, I as just unlucky". Bah. Guess that's what we should expect in the minor league. Last edited by sammyg2; 06-04-2012 at 05:57 AM.. |

I love it when people know nothing and spout off (not that I've ever done that
![]() ![]() Friday of the weekend the track was wet and with little activity. Saturday was cool for the Grand Am, or was it the ALMS? I didn't watch. Sports car bore the hell out of me. Sunday the track got warm and under the pressure of the Indy cars and the patches started to lift. But, here's the kicker: those patches were old. They had nothing to do with the race until they failed. No blame goes to Indy car, the promoters and maybe little to the entity that controls the Belle Isle Park for this one race. It's a bad track all the way around. It needs to be dropped from the schedule. The only fault I see is the red flag was 1 to 2 laps late. I think they were trying to get to 46 laps so they could call the race over if needed. I might have made the same choice and if I did get to 46 laps, I would have called the race. It did no good to continue from a business standpoint. Stick a fork in the whole deal. And therein may be the crux of the matter, the fact that this is a business and not a sport. We'll see if Randy Barnard survives another week. Apparently he has brought too much of his bull riding to the cars. While I'm on a rant, I say Roger Penske is bad for the sport. He is not a sport, he is a ruthless monarch dueling with his neighboring kingdoms, the Castles of Ganassi and Andretti. I say one car per owner, one vote per car. Bring back Derick Walker and hail to Dale (Coyne). You already know how I feel about A.ss J.erk Foyt. |

Supposedly they hadn't raced at Belle Isle in three years, probably should take it right out of the schedule.
