need a small vibrator motor

something small like used in massage chairs. Pager vibrators too small.

I need to randomly vibrate a 12" X 16" .125" aluminum plate that is supported by 2" tall springs on 4 corners. a 1.5 lb device will be attached to this plate.

looking for something off the shelf, but Grainger and McMaster not working. Might have to head to the adult store....

thanks.

Yeah that's the ticket. I think you need a big one. Care what color?

willtel 06-15-2012 11:28 AM

Couldn't you use any motor with a counterweight attached?

How about a small palm sander...Just checked. Harbor freight has them on sale for as low as $12.99

Look in the top drawer of the night stand on her side of the bed, towards the back.

I'll ask my wife.....

I think this is one technical topic the women of pelican are more qualified to answer....

Hugh R 06-15-2012 11:59 AM

Cash, that'll get her motor going.

85eurocarrera 06-15-2012 12:30 PM

sure I can make one, but this is a display that will be in a retail environment and want something that is designed to vibrate....so it doesn't break.

My Google search only finds out of country suppliers.

vash 06-15-2012 12:35 PM

how fast do you need it to vibrate? like a palm sander (great idea btw!) or undulated like a slow roller?

a vibration motor is nothing more than a regular motor with a off balance eccentric wheel right?

85eurocarrera 06-15-2012 12:47 PM

slow roller...think shakey hands holding cam corder.

going to dig in basement for kids old vibrating ball toy thingy. Really like to be able to add variable speed as well so I can dial it in.

vash 06-15-2012 12:52 PM

oh/!! that is easier..i thought you were doing some earthquake demonstration...school science fair thing.

you dont need alot of power.. i bet you will need to make one. all the vibrators i am thinking about buzz..not shake.

How about something like a bass shaker? Aura AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker 299-028

RWebb 06-15-2012 12:58 PM

for small vibes, you can attach the plate to a audio loudspeaker and use a signal generator and amp on it -- a colleague a Duke did that to ... well, never mind

I can't see what it looks like on my phone...I will check when I get home.

thanks!

I can see why some people here have some big post counts.....

craigster59 06-15-2012 01:21 PM

2" tall springs doesn't give you much room on the underside. Does it matter what axis the vibrations are? Search on eBay for "vintage hand massager."
