Making the bus monitor cry - Karma in action

I heard about this on the radio this afternoon. After watching the video I was just shocked. Shocked at the kids and shocked at the woman's ability to sit patiently listening to the insults. When I was 10-12, I remember some kids being obnoxious, but nothing close to this.

Karma is busy working on this one.

News stories report that the kids have received a huge amount of negative attention for their actions - threats, police investigations, etc.

Meanwhile, a fund started to collect $5000 to give the bus monitor a nice vacation is approaching half a million dollars as I write this.

Video is not work/kid safe due to language:

We allow this crap to happen in our schools. Kids are not held accountable any more. What happened to the anti bullying laws? Are they being exercise here?

VINMAN 06-22-2012 03:48 AM

That video is heartbreaking. :(

You have to blame the parents also. My parents would have beat the effin piss out of me if i ever did something like that. But then again when i was a kid the was no way in hell i would have ever even thought of talking to an adult like that.

recycled sixtie 06-22-2012 04:38 AM

I cannot imagine teaching these students if that is the way they treat an adult. Something is lacking in the way some students behave lately. My neighbor has a son who is a high school teacher and he says he has two advantages: one he is male and two he plays hockey. Somehow I expect more crime. About two weeks ago a 21 year old security guard shot and killed 3 coworkers and critically injured another while servicing cash machines at our local university. He was caught trying to enter the US with $333K. Fortunately he was caught without a fight at the border. How did he think he could get away with it!

The world is upside down. The patients are running the asylum.

This needs to stop. We are here because of political correctness gone far off course.

speeder 06-22-2012 05:41 AM

I know what it is but I can't watch it. I read a description of it when it surfaced a few days ago.

Man's inhumanity to man in all its forms still manages to amaze me. I read far too much news everyday. The only consolation is that you will never read a news story or watch a youtube video entitled, "several billion people treated each other OK today", or "most people got along this week".

Must keep perspective lest I lose the plot.

Exactly how it would have been in my house. I would also have ended up being that woman's slave laborer for at least one summer. The world truly is upside down.

We did have a cranky old lady bus driver in junior high and there was one really incident where she made a turn on a small bridge too tightly and scraped the whole side of the bus on the guard rail. One of the kids stood up and said, "This comes out of your pay!" But that was really the worst I've ever seen happen and it was kind of funny.

Rikao4 06-22-2012 06:01 AM

the response by some of the parents..
'there just being kids'...
one of the kids is parents is a local Cop..

some serious beotch slapping would have gone down in my house..

I can't find the quote anymore but I think at least one parent might be on the right track...he said he would wait for his son's punishment from the school, then he would also have a punishment at home.

I know that can go either way, but when I was a kid, I knew exactly what that meant and I far preferred the school's punishment. Hopefully that is the case here too.

widgeon13 06-22-2012 06:09 AM

Fifty years ago when I was in HS I would have gotten kicked off the bus minimum for something approaching this behavior, then when I got home my mother would have kicked my A$$ but good.

I distinctly remember being someplace with my mother as a youngster and another woman gave me something. I missed the opportunity to say "thank you" and also missed my mother's prodding when she tried to subtly remind me. Since I clearly remember that story to this day you know my mother let me have it good when I was out of sight. Not only did I embarrass myself but it was a bad reflection on my parents. Enough said.

My guess is that this kind of discipline doesn't take place today. Where have we gone wrong as a society?

stealthn 06-22-2012 06:22 AM

I think all those kids need to have the ****e kicked out of their parents while they're forced to watch.

Unbelievable

CarreraDan 06-22-2012 06:26 AM

Looks like typical behavior for today's middle schoolers. A friend of mine is a middle school principle and the stories she can tell will make you want to ***** slap every 12-14 yr old you see. When they get the parents involved most of the time the parents blame the school/teacher and it goes downhill from there--absolutely no personal accountability today.

My parents would have beat me over such actions, however I would have never done anything like that as we were raised better. You should see some of the kids in our neighborhood, stole our cat a few years ago and locked her in a garage 7 houses down. Found her the next day when the homeowners came home and saw our signs. I could never prove it but every time she would hear or see them she would run for my wife or I and climb us like a tree. I would love to beat the living pulp out of them to teach a lesson but in my profession I would lose everything.

azasadny 06-22-2012 06:48 AM

I ouls have been beaten to death if I did that when I was a kid. Our bus drivers were our friend's mom's and we treated them with respect.

bell 06-22-2012 07:04 AM

yea....total bs..........i am barely scraping by each week and I donated $10.........
she's going to have one hell of a vacation.....

Yeah........................no s**t - I could not agree more. When I was a kid that age I'm sure I could be prick to other kids who were pricks to me but someone's mother or grandmother?? Nothing but respect...........

fastfredracing 06-22-2012 07:24 AM

That lady is friggen' pillar of self control, and cool levelheadedness. She deserves everything good that comes her way from this, and we should all take a lesson from her.

rouxroux 06-22-2012 07:31 AM

The fund is now over 500K, quite a bit more than the 5K they had hoped for. Karma indeed!

Superman 06-22-2012 07:40 AM

The owner of the "Five and dime" store in my hometown was named Matt Machinsky. I called him "Mr. Machinsky." Each time, he asked me to call him "Matt." I could never do that. My two choices were "Mr. Machinsky" and "Sir." In sports there as a third choice. "Coach."

Rikao4 06-22-2012 07:59 AM

several here have mentioned ..
what would have happened at home..
and that's true for many here..
but..
most of us would NEVER even gone there in the first place..

upside..
these kids are on other bullies radar now..
and while not really correct..
I'm gonna have too look the other way ..
and would tell the parents..
'their just having fun with your precious piece of scheisse'

Rika

URY914 06-22-2012 08:06 AM

I heard on the news today that the kids are getting death threats and the cops are having to park outside of their houses for protection.

Rick Lee 06-22-2012 08:07 AM

I would never have even thought of behaving like that. Just totally alien to my mindset. When I was that age, I called my teachers Mr. and Mrs. because we had to. When I talk to my old teachers now, I still call them Mr. or Mrs., but it's out of sheer reverence and respect.

RedBaron 06-22-2012 08:08 AM

I was born in the early 90s. If I ever did anything like that, my parents would have punished me severely and I am somewhat sure my school would not have tolerated that. It's hard to believe the difference in peoples attitude when they are 6-10 years younger. It's also hard to believe how many parents cannot properly raise a child.

NY65912 06-22-2012 08:19 AM

Kids are not (general) taught respect any longer. Look at TV, movies and music.......paging respect! where are you? Oh yeah, it is dead.

I was taught to respect my elders....period. I had fear of my teachers, police, official and most of all my father! My Italian immigrant father who had 0 tolerance for my BS. I have learned to be responsible and respectful from my parents. Thanks Mom & Dad!

Amen to that. It's part of the reason why my kids go to a Catholic school. They don't take any money from the government so they don't have to take every kid, and teaching manners and respect are integral to the education. If you don't play by the rules your ass is on the street looking for a new school. You can see it when you walk through the building as the kids are polite and under control.

I would beat the hell out of my kids for even a fraction of that behavior, and they would feel the effects for a long time to come.

Anti-bullying laws are BS! This is the fault of the parents! These kids have no values.

And you should listen to the parents make excuses for their kids!

"Johnny is a good kid. It was the other kids that made him do it..."

BS!!!!

red-beard 06-22-2012 08:47 AM

The worst part:

One of the Jack@$$ kids said she should go home to here family, except she didn't have any cause they all commited suicide because they hated her so much.

One of her children had commited suicide 10 years ago.

As was suggested last night, everyone of those kids should be grounded for the summer and sent to her house to work for her, pulling weeds, mowing grasss, painting, what ever she wants. That would be a fitting lesson. No verbal apology will work. Deeds, not words!

My wife and I were talking about it this morning. She said when they were in school, if the Principal went to your classroom, all students and the teacher would immediately stand up. They were taught respect, by their parents, the church and the school.

No one teaches anything today.

That's hilarious because when I was a kid, the last thing you wanted to say was some other kid got you to do something that got you in trouble - that just made it worse for you. For a parent to throw that out there? "My son's a good kid - you know, for a weak-willed moron." How proud they must be!

NY65912 06-22-2012 09:29 AM

Maybe some of the parents do care.

The first thing parents do today is to make excuses for their kids. I should know, because I was a part time shop teacher right after college.

Granny should file a complaint..
by playing nice..
she just encourages this..

Greece, N.Y., near Rochester.

Why does this not surprise me? I've never been impressed by any New York, or New Jersey native. Even one of my best friends from Waltham, MA has an appalling vocabulary. The F word is like a comma for these morons. If you can't communicate any better than that, really why even bother?

If you don't have to work or live in NY, you should thank the merciful Lord.

I hope these kids learn something from this, I hope I care if anything happens to them.

One does wonder if the driver knew what was going on could they intervene? Man 60 seconds in was all I could take.

What would've happened if the driver just stopped the bus and kicked them off?

Rikao4 06-22-2012 11:14 AM

he would have been fired & sued...
Parents would also sue the City/School district into the poor house..

these days..
many parents live for something like this...

and the kids would be smirking on TV..
