OK, we all agree that there truly were some bad cheesy songs way back when we were all growing up and, love them or loath them, at least some of them must have brought back some great memories. So, with that in mind, should we close this thread and start a new musical theme based thread....one based on a great event that happened in your past???
Oh, I've got a good one...this might be fun!!!

Check the PPOT forum.

"The ethereal sound was created by laboriously building up multiple overdubs of the voices of Stewart, Graham Gouldman, Godley and Creme singing a single note in unison. This multi-track was then mixed and dubbed down onto 16-track tape. This process was repeated across all 16 tracks to create a lush 256-voice "virtual" choir that could "sing" chromatic chords.[1] A number of these prepared multi-tracks were then cut into several endless loops, each of which contained the basic notes of the main chords used in the song. The chorus loops could then be played by using the mixing desk rather like a keyboard -- each chord could be sounded by bringing up the fader for that loop. The instrumental break featured the repeated spoken phrase, "Be quiet, big boys don't cry...", spoken by Kathy Warren, the receptionist of their own Strawberry Studios where the band recorded the track. These whispered lyrics would later serve as the inspiration for the name of the 1980s band, Boys Don't Cry.

In this pre-sampler period, the group was able to simulate a large polyphonic choir, creating a dramatic tonal effect similar to that produced by the well-known choir sounds of the Mellotron and Birotron, but with a far richer sound, and in full stereo. Godley and Creme's "Gizmo" (also known as "Gizmotron") guitar effects device invention also is used to create a bowed cello effect that surfaces in the middle and closing sections of the song under the endless looped voices.

The same voice loop effect was used in Billy Joel's ballad "Just the Way You Are", released two years later. "
That is an awful lot of trouble to go through just to put us all in a comatose state

Ditto on the John Denver, Ann Murry might be a little of a stretch ..... I rememember liking a couple of her songs several decades ago but haven't heard any of it for so long I can't even remember one of her songs off the top of my head.
Might have to do a search.

While we're on the cheasy subject:

Quote:
(I,I,)I'm just a love machine and I won't work for nobody but you
(I,I )I'm just a love machine .............. A hugging kissing fiend

I think it's high time you knew
Whenever I think of you
My mind blows a fuse
When I look in your eyes
My meter starts to rise
And I become confused
My motor cranked electric goes
When I'm sitting next to you
Electricity starts to flow
And my indicator starts to glow

Repeat chorus

I'm gentle as a lamb
I'm not that hard to program
There's no way that you can lose
Chassis fits like a glove
I've got a button for love
That you've got to use (push it push it baby)
If you look into my power
I am sure you can find out how
To turn me on just set my dial
And let me love you for a little while ooooooh

Repeat chorus

La... La la la la..... La la la la.. La la
La la la la la.. La la la.... La la laaaaaaaaa
Push it push it baby, yeah......ah, ah

Repeat chorus

BTW, just because a song is totally cheasy doesn't automatically mean I don't like it.

Ah yes, now I remember her. Good song.

Anyone old enough or remember MTV when it first started? They played this song every half hour. The song's OK but the vid is pretty cheesy. Like zombie version 1.0

I really like Pat Benatar, but seriously, a cheesy dance-fight?
Who choreographed that and what the heck is up with those costumes?

There are a couple track day songs I used to play on warmup laps when I ran in my street car (993) with a CD player.

Blue (Da Ba Dee) was one of them and Haddaway was the other.

Haddaway - What Is Love - Vidéo Dailymotion

Great for setting a rhythm on the track.
