Apparently, at five times the size, this new rover is too big!

I was at NASA yesterday. We were down on the floor in the mock up/Training area and were able to see first hand examples of both Orion and the surface rovers. Wow, are those things small. Imagine being cooped up with 3 other guys in something the size of a pickup truck camper, for several months!

They had 3 versions of this on the floor.

It was "roomy" compared to Orion.

It is 50% larger diameter than the Apollo command module, 5m in vs. 3.4m for Apollo. Inside is small, at least looking through the side port.

Yes, there are 5 people in there. There is a spot for #6. The new idea is only 4!
