Astonishing..New Boxster S: $110,000! Seriously!
With some of the nicer options..the base Porsche can easily climb over the six figure mark...the options almost equal the price of the base car. Do people actually pay this kind of scratch for these cars?
I played with the Panamera Turbo and got it up to $250K! ![]() Porsche know how to make money! Yasin

Considering a basic 911 starts at about $100k, maybe that's a bargain?

Vas, I guess the import regs keep you from just bringing in a US car?

Back in the day a 911 went for 35K. That was back in the mid 80's. Anyone know the price for the 911 in the 60's??

944 was 30k in '86. I bet the 911 wasn't 35k...

My wife just paid $75 to get her hair trimmed. Yes, the good hairdressers can afford it!

My '95 was 93K out the door. 100K isn't what it used to be!

If you compare today's boxster pricing with the pricing 10 years ago, they've held the prices down pretty well. Of course Porsche is notorious for their high priced options. My 997 is pretty well stripped, I think it has 3 options and it's still a great car. I was surprised to find one with manual seats and mine's the only 997S I've seen with them.

I remember looking at an option list in the 00s, and if you had specified leather covering for every individual dash trim piece (and vent vanes) you'd pay some thing like $13K for just that.
It's always been possible to nearly double the price of a Porsche off the option list. Then, of course, you could go to "Porsche Exclusive" and triple the price. IIRC the guy who bought the last 928S4 managed to triple the price by piling on "interesting" options, including custom-color seat belts that required dyeing a whole batch just to get one set. At the other end of the spectrum, I bought the first 993 C2S @ Vasek in April '97 and it was $62.7K, discounted to $61XXX. IIRC it had zero options. Wish I still had that one...

Our 84' Carrera was a little over $34K + tax out the door with the full leather, cruise, air, sunroof, 16's and a few other small items. Just think of the amount of inflation on the US dollar since then!

There were always variations depending on options and Porsche options were always expensive for the time. Most all 911s in the USA came with a standard package of 16" Fuchs, sunroof and partial leather+ A/C and power windows. Some were ordered with full leather and LSD, that bumped the price a couple grand back then. ![]() |

Although the price of Boxsters keep climbing, I think the price you finished with is more a testament to all the customization you can do to Porsche's. I'm pretty sure you can get a nicely appointed Boxster S for substantially less. I think my 89 911 was in the $50-60's in late 80's money. Figure that out in todays cash and you would be shocked.
