I had dinner with Gogar in Denver last week and he told me the fires were made a lot worse because of some kind of bug that's infesting and killing the trees. So they catch fire a lot more easily. The next day I had a meeting at a Denver gov't. agency and they told me the same thing. Seems to me man didn't cause the lightning or the bug infestation that are causes of this fire.

The pine bark beetle will destroy a stand of trees in no time flat, and what they leave behind is ripe for combustion. I lost my beautiful stand of white pines (about half an acre) a few years ago because of them. They walked through Va like Grant taking Richmond

Stupid "environmentalists" are the direct cause of the huge fires we have now. Periodic, smaller fires is how forests clean up the floor, with the added benefit of destroying diseased trees. Logging in a well planned manner will accomplish the same thing.

Ignorant people fail to understand this. It is only the future if we continue to allow stupid, ignorant people to direct our policies.

Lightening started the High Park fire, there is a debate going in the beetles, but yes the trees catch quicker but there isn't a canopy left to help spread it.

I was referring to the Waldo fire, which I understand was helped along by an arson.

This is my point exactly, but it doesn't feed peoples emotions like the charged headlines at the top of this thread. I cleared my property of dead trees last year, got a forest permit to do it, most of them were dead from the pine beetles last year.

Bark beetles proliferate during times of drought and our forests here in AZ have been hit hard by both. Combine those problems with poor forest management and we're getting bigger fires.

Terrible sources, sloppy too. Doesn't even mention our record snowfall totals last year.

I was referring to the scientists at NCAR - you would have known that if you'd read further up on the thread. But I'm a scientist every week, and also an attorney.

You may want to lay off the Village People thing tho - it seems like it is affecting your ganglion.

Sorry, Buckwheat, but I don't seem to have a ganglion. I happen to have a brain, which has deduced that you just happen to pronounce yourself as an expert on everyfrickinthing.

Boys, boys.

You should probably take a moment to talk about the human-caused fire in AZ.

Seems it wasn't a total fluke:

Those guns probably walked in F&F. I should have guessed that the fires would become an excuse to forward the leftist, anti 2nd amendment, anti-liberty agenda.

Come on Guns don't cause fires, Anthropogenic Global Warming does, or Guns don't cause fires, stupid environmentalist policies do. Read the Constitution!
