Sammy described it well. A store needs profit. It is an art to take in trades & make money with them. Many customers feel insulted but they just don't understand the economics. If a store takes in a trade against a new sale, they defer their profit until they sell the used piece. And the used sale has to show a stand-alone profit as well as it is 'stealing' a new product sale - as Sammy pointed out.
