Computer Monitors

After 7 years, my 17" flat screened monitor started acting up so I decided it was time to get a new monitor. I did a lot of research on the different types of monitors and the advantages & disadvantages of each. In a nutshell you have the standard CRT monitor in two flavors. The shadow mask tube or the stripe pitch tube monitors (Sony Triniton, Mitsubishi Dimandtron) The stripe pitch tube has the most vibrant colors and is very good at displaying text BUT has one annoying feature. Two lines that run across the screen, usually only noticeable when using a program with a light background. I do a lot of word processing and didn't like the idea of the two thin lines staring at me all the time.

So I started looking at the new TFT monitors. The flat screen, no picture tube monitors. I won't go into all the nuances of these monitors but I do highly recomment them. Of course you have to get the right one. I purchased a 15" which is only 3/4 of an inch smaller than my old 17". The 17" tft monitors are still very expensive (over $700. for a good one) Anyway, I've had this monitor for 6 weeks and I really like it. Great color, great text, uses only 35 watts, enviromentally friendly, uses little desk space, etc.

If your in the market for a monitor, you should consider a TFT....
