I chased one through the hills of western Arkansas last year... It's my understanding that the owner drives it quite a bit...

They are ugly in the sense that a first year Boxster is ugly. IOW, they are well beyond current style. If you look at how the Boxster has evolved and consider what may have been the equivalent development of the CGT, it might be the preeminent super car today.
Porsche AG just threw the car away. I can't respect that. However, I guess the 918 is the replacement: ![]() Anyone buy one of those recently? ![]() ![]() |

I think they look way better than a gen 1 Boxster. The rear is a little odd and I don't generally like Targas but the front is great and the carbon monocoque makes up for the targa top. The side view is good too.

I think you missed my point when I made a comparison to design evolution, not to the design itself.

I've never thought of the CGT as a good looking car.
It is a effective looking car though. Not that I'll ever own one. So it does not matter.

There was a SY CGT that came up from Dallas last year for Porsche Palooza in Eureka Springs. Over 200 Porsches were flying all around NW Arkansas!

That brings a question to mind. Anyone know what a major service for a Carrera GT costs ? WAY more than I could afford I am sure. I coulnt even afford the DMV license fees and insurance. Just wondering what a service costs for a CGT.

I don't know what a tuneup costs, but I have at the ready this fun fact -
The fuel filter is inside the fuel cell, the engine/rear suspension needs to come off of the monocoque to remove the fuel cell, (mid engine, remember), and IIRC, you cannot just buy a fuel filter, you need to go ahead and order the whole cell. But luckily, Genuine Porsche Replacement parts and labor have always been priced reasonably!

Living in so cal I see one every couple of months. Last one was on the 57 south. Plus, my fellow porschephiles and I all trade iphone shots of the ones we see.
