Yep youth thinks it is indestructable..Problem is that as ya get over that certain age U have to recognize that you don't have the same physical abilities nor ability to work as long nor as hard as ya used to....You have to PACE yer self...realize you have to go a bit slower and work smarter. If ya don't the old Ticker stops ticking...SUDDENLY..

As a Youth, I was indestructible, it wasn't until after 30 that my indestructibly vanished & I became human.. ;)
sad thing is, with all the hi cardio & lung sports I participated in, most of my life (and never doing drugs or smoking cigs) I never expected to have the heart & lung issues I'm currently dealing with, but I refuse to lay down & die, I would rather that happen on a bike ride..http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1343702652.jpg

Even though it isn't green, I read this as sarcasm... If it's not, I'm bummed as I laughed about it all day.:(

Sheesh.
I guess i am fortunate.
58, still going strong.
I have ridden the mountain bike(offroad) for 20 plus years - broken shoulder, ankle, broken wrist.
2 broken legs from 2 auto accidents - different legs.
Broken arm playing sports.
No real pains, still going strong.

Words I try to live by & for my money, the best advice for us guys sliding into our autumnal Years. That & the occasional shot of a good single malt.

You guys are making me glad I sat around smoking pot and drinking beer until I was 25. At 53 my body still works great for whatever I want to do, especially sitting around smoking pot and drinking beer.

No sarcasm Pavulon. My point is strive to be fit & health as you age. I would rather be fit, strong & mentality capable in old age. You don't get there sitting on your a$$. And of course there are no guarantees and we cannot control randomness, but if I make it to 80 or 90 I am doing what I can to be the best me possible. SmileWavy

It's an old study, and newer info may be available, but in 1999 they were saying this about DHEA:

In middle-aged men, no statistically significant effect of DHEA supplementation on lean body mass, strength, or testosterone levels was found in a randomized placebo-controlled trial.

Wallace, M. B.; Lim, J.; Cutler, A.; Bucci, L. (1999). "Effects of dehydroepiandrosterone vs androstenedione supplementation in men". Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise 31 (12): 1788–92.

Tell me more about this. What sort of contact? I assume laying on the couch watching F1 is not sufficient. How about yoga, isometrics, pushups/crunches? Or does it have to be hard core stuff like running (EVIL)?

Then I guess the placebo effect works!
