It's official - New Car Aqcuired

Good afternoon fellow PARF err PPOT crowd. Just thought I'd share that I am once again a Porsche owner. You may remember this previous thread: Why shouldnt I sell my 87 Carrera to buy a Boxster? which got a lot of blow-back as the newer cars aren't really Porsches and a lot of support to do it. Well it is official. I am now a 2006 Cayman S owner. Good buddy Joe Bob rode with me out to Hermosa to check it out. I got the car for about $700 under their "internet" price, about $4700 under their advertised "sticker" price.

102k miles, dealer serviced (Newport Beach) and only two points of interest: The left-rear wheel well has a couple chips on the bumper portion and the right-rear fender has a very very minor crease on the wheel-arch. Almost un-noticeable except in the right light. Mechanically 9/10, LOTS of power and the only thing needing to be fixed was the driver's side inside door-handle. VERY clean inside and out. I'm taking it to Factory Werks in Westminster this week and if Gary gives it the thumbs-up my bank will honor the deal and cut a check. Hurray! Now on to pics...

I love the Cayman. Better lines than the new 911, IMO. Great find!

Very nice ! I bet a good paintless dent removal guy can remove that small crease on the wheelwell. And ditch the lobster fork wheels for something else. Enjoy.

ya know one day we were at firebird intl. running a track day a contractor from tucson came up with a brand new red cayman s. just burned up the track and i was impressed. and i dont impress easily. ended up talking to him for awhile and got the grand tour of the cayman s. watched him JUST WHALE on that puppy and kick ass on quite a few alleged bad azz 911's and 914's and of course................boxsters.

if im correct specs list it at 171mph out of the box! YIKES good enuff fer me! and used they are very reasonable.

next p-car will be a cayman s. wifey loves 'em and i think 171 mph out of the box is just the SHIZZ-NINNY! or katz azz in laymans terms.

good luck

Very nice! My Boxster was probably more fun to drive than a 911, and I believe the Cayman S to be even better yet. Looks well taken care of for the mileage, enjoy your not a real Porsche.

Nice Coxster!

Looks like you have had a bit of a budget creep from your original plans!

Nice.

I can't believe the dealer wouldn't take the time to have that small dent removed by a PDR guy. Anyway, POC the way I see it.

Nice ! Welcome to the swamp as they say on Planet-9 (which is the defacto place to be for Caymans, just like pelican is for aircooled 911s).

May I suggest, in no particular order:
- A check and lowering of the tire pressures (32/35 feels better)
- A 986 spare tire + jack - fits in the front trunk
- Grey turn signals
- The softronic cable that lets you reset tons of stuff incl. service lights
- A few tools like the oil filter socket and the torx that let you open the engine compartment - forgot the size!
- when you have the time and $, a carnewal exhaust mod (Cantrell motorsports does it in the US)

Lovely car, IMO the prettiest Porsche since the 993. But I'm biased. Surprisingly easy to work on, as well.

PS: At this mileage, I'd replace the plugs, coil packs and serpentine belt if you don't have a trace of it being done in writing. All easily DIY !
