Mom has a brain Tumor - Favor to ask...

Guys and gals, it's been a rough rough last 72 hours.

first off, thanks so much in advance........a favor to ask you all.

SmileWavySmileWavySmileWavy

72 hours ago, out of no where, 76 year old Mom started acting very strange, short term memory loss, out of the blue dull glazed far away look in her eyes and wayyyy too amiable.........almost like she was tranquilized.....she's normally a fiesty sharp as a tack quick with a response normal healthy Webster look up "Mom" and there is a picture of her in the dictionary.

Long story short, 2 hospitals 2 ambulance rides and CAT scans and MRI's later, it was found she had a Tumor deep in her Brain that is/was the size of a Walnut. Deep in the brain, like in-between your ears deep. That was 48 hours ago.

Tumor was blocking brain fluid flow, impacting memories and brain tissue. So I had to sign consent to open her skull up and remove the Mass Lump of bad tissue.

Just got back from the Hospital, I've been up for almost 30 hours straight.

So enough of my recent twist of life events.

I'd like you to PLEASE just type a quick sentance of hope, prayer, and thoughts, so I can share with her tomorrow and the next day words of encouragement that I can READ to her while recovering in the Intensive Care Unit. What would you say to YOUR Mom..........???????

I'm hoping and encouraging you for a bit of creative license on your part, something more than, "you're in our prayers take care" that I can share/read to her. Pelicans are the most awesome supportive creative people around. Sincerely you're all so helpful to a fellow pelican in need.

Doesn't have to be spiritual or sappy Halmark Card dribble, just something that comes from the heart......

Think of YOUR own super awesome Mom, what they all do for us, the unselfish sacrifices they do for thier kids, and a special message that I can share with my Mom over the next rough days we'll have ahead.........

What would you say to your Mom?, "Be strong, count our blessinga and the memories we DO have to share, we'll get through this, keep the glass half full rather than totally empty, we're behind you........."

It's been a tough 30 hours I've been awake, and where do else do I turn first, but the awesome kind caring brain trust of Pelican..........."brain trust", that's almost funny in my situation........I did ask the doctor for a piece of her brain to keep in a jar of Ether to show her later, Mom always did try to "give me a piece of her mind".....grins.....doctor laughed but said no he couldn't, so I'm going to get a piece of Califlower and put it in a jar to show her in a day or two.........

gotta keep it real, light hearted, and genuine............that's how I'm keeping my sanity, or trying anyways.

thanks everyone, maybe this is for my own mental therapy, but please do type a response below, as if addressing your own mom who just had brain surgery, and I look forward to reading to her that "BillyBob101 from Alabama" says......"woo hoo go girl, count your blessing and forge ahead or blah blah blah something like that.

Hang Tough Mom, we're here for you. :)

And if I can get even ONE OF YOU, to call your own Mom or Dad, just to tell them you love them and appreciate all they've done for you, then this long message will have paid forward the love I have for my Mom of 50 awesome years, where she's always been there for me..........now it's time for me and my sister to repay that love......and take care of Mom.

The brain, an amazing thing of electro/chemical memory storage device, that like a computer USB memory stick if unplugged at the wrong time loses some/all of it's data.............ya'll appreciate your data storage, and the memories of family and friends and past good times together.

THANKS! I Appreciate your message that I WILL read to her in the next couple days:

Dear Lord, Please bless this family with your strenght. Please grant them the peace and understanding of all of their needs. Amen.

Best wishes for a smooth recovery. Moms are usually the glue that sticks a family together, and all of us boys are often lost without you. Even if we don't show it most of the time.

And just remember that while you gave life to the guy who's reading all these well wishes to you, he was too cheap to buy a real card and instead hit up a bunch of his internet buddies (who are probably sitting in their underwear) to write some sappy and/or inspirational stuff to you.

To Dave's Mom,

Your son has sent a message to his friends the world over for our thoughts and prayers for you. From a small town in Oregon, the Lane family wishes you a fast and complete recovery. Just so you know, your son is a VERY nice person to talk to online so you obviously raised him very well!

Steve and Angela Lane (plus one awesome standard poodle and a spoiled basset hound who both say "woof-woof" which means get well soon in American Dog).

Hi Mom! Wishing you a fast recovery to keep that son of yours on the straight and narrow path.

Mothy 07-31-2012 10:16 PM

To Dave's mum.

New travels a long way and people in Australia now know of your situation and send best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

Being a mum never stopped when us kids grew up and left home. I'm 53 and I still look forward to the regular visit. She is still the one I call when I need an impartial and level head. Rather than worry about the glass half full or half empty, mum's are more likely to suggest using a smaller glass.

Please get well - Dave needs you still.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from Phoenix, AZ!

Best wishes from Canuckistan! (Canada)

I am attending my Mother's funeral this week so I am going thru
a bit of survivor guilt about the things that I should have said when I last saw her. While your Mother is alive would suggest,"Mother you have been a great mother to me and always will be, I will always think about you and get better soon".

sc_rufctr 08-01-2012 01:13 AM

God bless your mother and family. She'll be in my prayers tonight.

DanielDudley 08-01-2012 02:18 AM

Dave, let your Mom know that she will be in our thoughts and prayers. Hang in there, it is going to get better. Looking forward to hearing about your recovery, I just know everything is going to be OK.

There it is.
I was fortunate that there was nothing left unsaid when my mom passed a few years ago.

Hello Dave's mom from Jefferson City, Missouri. You sound just like my own mother and just about the same age! So enjoy your bed rest, but we are all expecting you to get up and get back in the came soon!

I've never met Dave's mom, but she just has to be one awesome lady. I can say that with certainty, because I have met Barb, Dave's wife, who most certainly is an awesome lady. Barb has only had to put up with Dave for half as long as Dave's mom, so his mom must be doubly awesome...:D

In all seriousness, Dave, you guys are in my prayers. Hang in there, bud. And yes, I'll stop by my mom's on the way home from the drags this weekend...
