Garage
My sister and I are faced with the same problem as my deceased mother has at least 20 boxes of stuff and antique furniture. It is all in storage now and we are considering shipping it to a relative's garage for no charge storage and then we can go thru it at our leisure. My sister in her wisdom did get it all appraised so possibly an estate auction might be in our future. Have u considered auctioning off some of your good stuff?

I understand your need to get rid of stuff. My wife and I already feel sorry for our only child to go thru our stuff when we pass on. Getting an appraisal is relatively inexpensive in the meantime and that way u could sort out the valuable stuff from the non valuable.
I would suggest course of action:
1. Get appraisals done
2. Auction off stuff
3. Ebay
The last 2 not necessarily in that order.

I wish a tsunami would come through here and wipe out all of my stuff. Just enough time to grab the cat, dog, and (I guess) GF too. And only just survive fleeing the waters.

I have loads of antiques and art that I don't like, don't want, but feel a bolt of lightening would come down and get me if I sold it. Boxes of photos of people who I don't really know who they are. Uncle Sid, your second cousin who you have never met etc. I also need a fresh start. I'd like to have a suitcase of nice stuff and get on a plance with it - and the cat.

Wish I was closer, would be glad to help.

Love antiques... but like you I prolly should really start down-sizing as well.

A kindred spirit. I have photos going back 5 generations and documents going beyond the civil war. Genealogy work back to Colonial times. I've offered what I have to my cousin's kids (my closest relatives) and they aren't interested. I've given some generic stuff to the local historic society but I didn't even get a thanks.

It's all going in the trash.

I'm interested in converting what I can to cash. The eBay idea seems to be the most solid except for the large stuff. However, I'll try "local pick up only, no shipping."

The general stuff I was holding to bulk up a garage sale is going to the curb.

Must feel good when you slash your way through the forest.
