Do yourself a favor and rent one of the recliners that raises up and helps you out of the chair. Otherwise you won't be able to get your self out. They rent for cheap. Believe me you will love it.

Plastic sleeve for putting on socks. My dad still uses since he got his hip replaced in December.

Gaaaack!

It keeps getting worse. I just ordered one of these.

Amazon.com: Bottom Buddy: Health & Personal Care

I would have never imagined typing the phrase "I have a bottom buddy".

Next I need some pants to wear up over my navel.

You'll likely need a gizmo for pulling on socks (may send you home with that) and an elevated toilet seat which will double as shower seat. Hand held extension for shower head.

If I think of more I'll post again...I've been there three times...

Purchase a toilet bar (attaches to the toilet, provides arms on either side to help you stand up), locate the toilet you will be using, install it now! Shower chair. Extension on the shower head so you can do some/most of the work bathing. shower curtain so your helper can more easily help you. Extra towels to throw on floor so you can quickly mop up spills. slip resistant material in tub/shower. think about your floor when you are getting out! remove trip hazards!

Lose weight if necessary, it will help your recovery and future!

Find out if you need to lower the bed or arrange other sleeping conditions. Sleeping on the comfy chair for a few days might be an option?

Do everything Docs and Nurses tell you, do not alienate your wife!!!! If they say take it easy, take it easy! Bending over is a bad thing!

I have some choice dumacc remarks but others have already gone there so I will stop...

Speedy recovery! There's still lots of life to do and see!

My Mom's recovery went very well and she was in her late 80s. She is more active today than prior to the surgery!

Pick up all throw rugs....they are a huge trip hazard. Metamucil will keep things moving while you're on pain meds...Docusate capsules too.

Those raised toilet seats have side rails to help you up.

If you have not already done so, ask your Doc or a PT person what things to do too. Line up a PT office you can get to easily and get referrals from friends for a good one.

It has been 112 degrees here each of the last three days. Keeping warm is not a problem!

I ordered a reacher - grabber gizmo. It arrived today so I opend the box. It came with instructions I felt were so important I wanted to be sure to share them.

Now I can tell my wife I read the instructions, for a change.
It is a very complex set of instruction but I did not want to misuse my new equipment.

There are instruction on how to release the thing. My hand cramped up and I drropped the entire thing on the floor. Now what?

Does it mean the ends of the "tips"? Or the sides?
I've got some liquid sodium bottles that need moving.
