my wife and i need 2 ship everything to my work..things get stolen from our porch.

new thing..well new for us.

there are apparently crooks that follow the FedEx trucks. easy pickings!! we have lost two boxes..one was the replacement of another. dog toys, and my CD from Amazon..

we clearly indicate we want to sign for deliveries..but nope, they just keep dumping boxes on our doorsteps.. stupid.

heads up friends. no rhyme or reason on what they leave and what they make you sign for..that i can tell.

I always ship to the office.

Better odds that there is someone available to sign for it and it's the same delivery guy every day so you know each other.

Talk to the FedX guy and arrange to have him deliver a fake package that happens to have one of those exploding ink packs set to go off when the box is opened, they seem to like what you order so it's a good bet they will take it.

had this problem briefly. then i guess the junkie thief figured out that i really was just ordering books from amazon. pawn broker/dealer don't want books.

i figure a cheap game camera might be useful if the thief is some neighborhood kid. but not if it's some dedicated scumbag following delivery trucks around. good luck getting the cops to care.

I would order a fake video camera and hang it off the front porch. Just don't have it shipped to your house!

Also, you probably do have a game cam - I'd set that up too to see if it is a neighborhood kid. I doubt is someone following the truck rather than an opportunist bored teen.

I ship everything to my office. My wife has her stuff shipped to my office. I have my office address on my credit card as a preferred address. I had one company that refused to ship to anywhere but my billing address. They lost the sale.

One of the advantages of living in a Gated community. We do have things sent to out business, mostly so we can sign for things.

Just asking out of curiosity.

What does FedEx's do when you report stolen deliveries? Do they cover the loss, no questions asked? Do they make you fill out a long report and wait for approval? One would think they'd encourage signed deliveries but it doesn't appear they care.

FedEx Express pretty much always requires a signature. It's FedEx Ground and UPS Ground that pretty consistently will leave packages without signatures. If you have Amazon Prime, they tend to use OnTrack for their 2day delivery service (again, without signature).

Amazon has launched a locker service in metro areas for just this reason:

Oh. Don is right. It was OnTrac'. Amazon sent a replacement with no debate. They take it up with shipper. Talked to wife. She heard and saw a woman run into a car from our porch. Dog was useless. Wife didn't engage. Happy about that

If you like a good prank you could do the following-

0. Install a camera on the front of your house to capture UPS deliveries
1. Poop into a large ziplock bag
2. put the bag of poop in a box with a logo on it (amazon, etc.) along with a note such as, "smile you are on camera" or "this is what I think of you"
3. go to a UPS shipper and send it to yourself
4. When it shows up pray to whatever god/flying spaghetti monster you believe in that the thieves steal the box of Poop so you don't have to throw it away
5. Laugh yourself silly at the thought of them opening the box, finding the bag of poop, and having that WTF look on their faces.

I got rid of my junk mail problem by taking the pre postage paid junk mail and taping it to the tops of cardboard wrapped concrete chunks from an old patio that had been jack hammered out- Pre paid postage rates on 8-12 pound packages that go next day air must be spendy.

In other words I like a good gut busting postage based prank on people who deserve it.

Thieves are Bastids and deserve worse but a bag of poop would be good.

Yes it's legal- stool samples are sent in the mail all the time and besides you are sending to "yourself".........what could go wrong??

if they didn't steal the nice box with "GoPro" written all over it....

set up a camera - i used a gopro in a nearby window, got nice video of thief. but, the police didn't care!?! the stuff in my box wasn't valuable enough! (what makes the police think that its only happening to me?). good luck.
