New Toy - not a Porsche but....
Just bought this Friday night from a good friend of mine. He has boys now that are old enough to start riding dirt bikes and he no longer had the space to keep it.
1998 Lingenfelter Camaro. Ordered from the factory by a friend of mine as an SS with the SLP performance special option packages. He waited a year for delivery at the time. After owning it for a few years he then it to Decatur Illinois where Lingenfelter Performance Engineering modified the car. The car is around 490 hp yet the car still averages around 24 mpg. Violent with the traction control off.... ![]() With all the suspension mods and the brakes this thing handles incredibly and stops with shear force. Absolutely nasty fun!! He is a super anal guy when it comes to his stuff so the car is absolutly spotless and is like a brand new car. Car details: 1998 Camaro SS - 40,217 miles Leather interior Slip regulation (option) Rear defroster (option) Ordered as a non-T-top for increased rigidity SLP factory options ($4,003) - Hurst shifter, 3" performance exhaust system, Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension Pkg, Eibach springs, Auburn Performance Limited Slip Differential, MagnaFlow stainless muffler (sounds incredible) + misc Lingenfelter Performance Engineering top end package ($10,820) Lingenfelter Performance Engineering installed 3.73 gears Lingenfelter Performance Engineering balanced aluminum drive shaft Kooks long tube stainless headers & Random Tech 100 cell Cats LS6 Intake Brembo 13" front calipers and rotors with stainless lines Custom built 3 piece Simmons Racing wheels - deep dish rear and fronts made to fit bigger brakes Baer Eradispeed rear rotors Carbon fiber front grill and lid G2 triangular subframe connectors and Hotchkis polished STB Custom stereo - Eclipse head unit with single CD. Trunk mounted 6 cd changer. 2 Arc amps and a 10" ARC sub. Morel Elate speakers ($1,200 pair) Electric switch to bypass muffler. (open headers) He has easily 60K+ in it with purchase price included. All this for $12k..... I feel like I stole it from my good friend but he is the one that threw the price out because he wanted to see it go to someone he knew and trusted. Either way my wife suggested getting he and his wife a nice dinner package at Elways and a night at the Ritz as a thank you. She's a good wife!! Enough chatter.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You could buy him a car as thanks and still be money ahead!
What a great score, and it looks like everything was done with a high level of craftsmanship. Brake rotors look Spankin' New!

Make sure he has champaign with that dinner. Very nice score! Good thing he came up with the price, I'd feel guilty otherwise.

Cool! I had a 94 Z28 that was a hoot.
What shifter is installed in yours? If it's the factory SLP it's a great piece. I used a B&M and it took everything I threw at it.

That looks like a silly amount of fun for $12k.

Yep I sure do feel like I stole it. It is completely docile and then the loud pedal goes down and the fun begins...
Oh Haha - It has a Hurst shifter in it and shifts very firm yet completely accurate. No burnouts with the current tires, way too expensive. Although I am going to have to take it to the track and see what kind of lap times I can lay down. ![]()

I had a very, very similarly set up 2001 without the brakes. It put 447 horsepower to the rear wheels, and turned a 11.7 @ 123 mph in the quarter. Never tracked or autocrossed it. Also had 1998 and 2000 SS Convertibles. Very fun cars. I've got an in with Lingenfelter if you need any documentation, parts, or knowledge. Great company.

Gonna put some Hoosier's on it this weekend and take it to an Autocross next Sunday to play a little. See how it does against all my local Porsche club buddies.
