New Toy - not a Porsche but....

Just bought this Friday night from a good friend of mine. He has boys now that are old enough to start riding dirt bikes and he no longer had the space to keep it.

1998 Lingenfelter Camaro. Ordered from the factory by a friend of mine as an SS with the SLP performance special option packages. He waited a year for delivery at the time.

After owning it for a few years he then it to Decatur Illinois where Lingenfelter Performance Engineering modified the car. The car is around 490 hp yet the car still averages around 24 mpg. Violent with the traction control off....

With all the suspension mods and the brakes this thing handles incredibly and stops with shear force. Absolutely nasty fun!!

He is a super anal guy when it comes to his stuff so the car is absolutly spotless and is like a brand new car.

I feel like I stole it from my good friend but he is the one that threw the price out because he wanted to see it go to someone he knew and trusted. Either way my wife suggested getting he and his wife a nice dinner package at Elways and a night at the Ritz as a thank you. She's a good wife!!

What shifter is installed in yours? If it's the factory SLP it's a great piece. I used a B&M and it took everything I threw at it.

Yep I sure do feel like I stole it. It is completely docile and then the loud pedal goes down and the fun begins...

Oh Haha - It has a Hurst shifter in it and shifts very firm yet completely accurate.

No burnouts with the current tires, way too expensive. Although I am going to have to take it to the track and see what kind of lap times I can lay down.

Are those 245/50-16s? Strange choice. 275/40 front and 315/35 rear 17s is the common performance set up. Some guys even run 315s all the way around.

I had a very, very similarly set up 2001 without the brakes. It put 447 horsepower to the rear wheels, and turned a 11.7 @ 123 mph in the quarter. Never tracked or autocrossed it.
Also had 1998 and 2000 SS Convertibles.
Very fun cars.

Gonna put some Hoosier's on it this weekend and take it to an Autocross next Sunday to play a little. See how it does against all my local Porsche club buddies.
