Next to a new Krakatoa or some such this ^ would definitely be devastating.

Not so grasshopper. Arctic ice is freshwater which displaces salt water and does not hold heat like salt water. This heat wave we're experiencing will soon turn into an ice age. Look what England and Europe are experiencing in the winters for the last two years.

whole point is somethings brewing that even the kids notice.. You cannot deny that.
It's not just a quirk but a constant change of irregular weather.

I understand communications throughout the world are instantaneous and anomalies are reported daily, as opposed from the last generation to the generation before.
Always weird weather has been, but REALLY weird weather is the norm now.
WHY ?

I have wondered about the why part too & got some perspective from a geologist friend. While he had a lot to say there were a couple of things that stuck in my mind as areas of concern. In part we are nearing the apex in the procession of the equinox where things like gravitational & electromagnetic fields may be less stable. The sun has been very active with a number of X Class & M Class coronal mass ejections, solar flares, as it approaches the solar maximus. As you have noticed the glacial & ice caps melting not only can raise ocean levels but also all of that is fresh water which decreases the salinity & specific gravity of the water in the Atlantic conveyor belt, already slowing that flow. If "nothing happens" I will be very happy.

Hurricane's are not weird anymore, but how many and intense ...maybe.
But-I wasn't just talking about wind.

my point is that we haven't seen any with real intensity, this year. you'd think that with our record heat and off the hook global warming there would be some real doozies, per the doom and gloomers re. global warming and storm intensity...

we haven't gotten above a category 1, this year:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Atlantic_hurricane_season

but, hey, i'll just bow out.

Unfortunately I have 2 kids to worry about their fear and hardships.
Other that that....bring it on. I mean that without any sort of toughness in my breath.

I am not afraid but assume to be an observer for as long as I may last.

The Sun, the moon and the mountains are still where they ought to be. I still weigh as much as I did last year- Dammit!-So much for gravitational fields. If north becomes south. Let it be. Remember the cartoons about digging all the way to China.? Those cartoons you can then watch in reverse and you will be back home again. No way National Geographic can do that for you.

where did you get that spin

1859 was way before real exploration even started
no aircraft let alone sat pic
no subs or sonar to get thickness data ether

in short no real data in 1859 for most of the arctic ice
