Is it possible to retain a D.Atty of your former spouse?

I imagine it is not too easily done.
I was so impressed with my x's lawyer even though my x only retained her for 1 month.
She was a Bulldog named vengeance and scared me crapless.

Why not if the divorce is final and there are no strings like child support that could be changed by court order. Or, if it has absolutely nothing to do with that particular divorce.

Divorce ended up as a desk Divorce.-very recent.
Insofar as Child Support, I have been overpaying since Feb.2009. This is just being dealt with now-ugghh.

I would like to retain her, for obtaining my fair share of assets and money in trust.
AND first of all Child Custody.

No, you can't get the attorney if she ever represented someone you were involved with. It would be unethical. Only unrelated matters and even then it's dicey.

Lots of bulldog lawyers out there. Spend a day at the court house and pick one.

You see, the problem is that the lawyer really can't represent both sides like a real estate agent can. And even there it could be a conflict of interest. I would never share a Realtor.

An attorney may have privileged information that he/she doesn't have to disclose. They just can't be fair for both if there is any contesting now or in the future. And it's in the ethical code I'm sure.

Maybe a real live lawyer will chime in. All I did was sleep at the Holiday Inn. ;z)

If you liked her that much, why not contact her and ask for a referral.

+1 - and start by explaining why. Ask her who she doesn't like going up against

hmmm. Do you think by phone or email would be perhaps less surprising to her.
I have no problem meeting face to face ..with anyone as well.
She could turn the most mundane things into a bomb.
There are no mundane things going on, very serious and sad and my own Atty doesn't use the bait in a novel he could write.

Thanks.
I just don't think she'd be humble enough to offer that. or lower herself.
This is judge Judy on the rag.

There might be a reason for that. If you have a frank talk with your present attorney and he can't tell you what you need to know (that could be a lot of things), then you could ask him for a referral. Sounds weird, but I think you'll get the point acros

Matters of law move slowly.

I would try to call her and if you cannot get through, then send her an email telling her that next time you want her on your side and if thats not possible, then could she please recommend someone of the caliber that she is.

You need to find a lawyer who will finalise your divorce as quickly as possible. A bull dog could drag things out longer than need be. It's your money. Spend it wisely.

Just get it done and move forward with your life. Don't waste time. Get it done.

You are so right. unfortunately.
Been a long long time without true happiness. Losing all the `stuff`is one thing. Losing your Kids, as a Family; is a killer.
I`d be way better off if I had the personality of a test -pilot. truth is , I`m a stupid emotional guy and have always been since being a nose picker.

The Odds!!-Unbelievable. What have you done then to kick yourself in the arse to get yourself moving along again.

Truth if it wasnt for my Kids and I mean now my Son, this would be a bonus.
But I am so close to him and he I -it works against us.
Real advice please.
I can easily get advice from friends that have NOT been there and done that, but it doesn`t work for me. It`s like fellas setting mouse traps and they will tell you how to hunt!

And no you can't hire her lawyer. The lawyer may have to represent her again some time down the road.

Find a good lawyer, not an az$hole. Take the high road.
