Thought I tried that once and it did not work. I'll try it again. Are they the same thing?

In the lowly Windows OS you click the file and push F2 and it will enable you to rename it but Mac is superior so I suppose it is suppose to sense your brainwaves and do it for you...

Ok, thanks Scott. It is as simple as changing the name but for some reason it messed me up last time.

The truth is that Macs are so simple to use that sometimes it evades me. I can't believe that I don't have to find something in "file" or "edit" on the top of page. I started out on PCs many years ago and never minded them, thought they were great, but I didn't know any different either.

With OSX you highlight the file and hit enter\return.

Click on the file. It will highlight. Pause a beat, click on the name. It is now highlighted and editable. Type to change the name. Or as noted above, click once to highlight, then hit return. Or click once to highlight and hit cmd-I (info...I...info...get it?) and change it there. Or ctrl-click (right-click) on the icon and pick "get info" from the contextual menu.

Then again F2 certainly is intuitive. When I think F2, I always thing, "change file name."

OK, as long as we're on geek stuff, I have a bunch of DVD's that were created from family home videos/VHS and super hi 8's. They have files like video_RM and Video_Ts can I just do a DVD copy if I buy a bunch of DVD blanks?

Short answer, yes.

What makes a DVD a DVD is the file structure/format contained on the disc.

You'll also have an Audio_TS folder, it's always empty but you need it so just do a direct duplication and you should be good.

Use -R media, more compatible with older devices than +R.

Ah, complicated. If only the world would do away with Macs it would be a lot happier place with just reliable old Windows.
