Scott, if I may ask a question -
What were the strengths of the old Crosswalk forum? What were the limits placed on *how strongly* people could disagree? In our PARF forum, for instance, the moderators will let things get pretty personal until a line in the sand gets crossed. And then someone gets banned or suspended for a while. Was it like that on the Crosswalk forum? What was it like? _ |

The religious views were also very moderate (much like mine)... unlike some of the extremist boards humorously suggested here. (I expected those) Quote:
However many of us post or lurk at multiple boards, to be well rounded, or sometime you just need a break from this place, or maybe we are just Internet whores. |
Sounds like Crosswalk was about as perfect as perfect can be on the internet, just like this place. Sorry to hear they went to FB. Some people get burned out on FB. Maybe they'll go back to the old way.

And some of the jabs here at my benign request exhibit why I will not and would not discuss my faith here. I am not offended, most of the jabs were made in good natured humor, and I know by putting the word Christian in the title it would make this thread a lighting rod. However for the most part it went rather well. Zeke's post actually turned out to be very helpful. Carry on! |

edit: it is a parody BBS. Landover Baptist Church - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia oh, man, i am not sure i approve.... some of the stuff posted there, and i only spent about five minutes, is really really bad. hateful. d. |

Why wouldn't a religious forum have a PARF? Why wouldn't they discuss religion or is everyone on the same page? If so, I find total unanimity difficult to believe among all the different Christian faiths.
At least on PParts PARF, the dissenting POVs create some interesting and enlightening contributions. Sherwood |

edited - ns So, it's ok to have multiple threads of soft core porn on the forum but it's not ok for someone to put up a thread asking for a location of a good christian forum? Note that there is no discussion of actual religion going on here, just someone asking for some advice on where to look for information. |
Telling of what Rick? I commented on an external site linked by another poster - to the extent that it was pretty weird. Bile, hate, Rick? No comment on the OPs post.
Are you a moderator now? Seems to me that youre the one ensuring this thread gets moved to PARF. |
Most all the good ones have gone to facebook.
But, a couple that I still post on are below. Monsieur Renaissance : le forum de discussion (a little left leaning, but thoughtful) General Discussion > Monsieur Renaissance : le forum de discussion -- Monsieur Renaissance : le forum de discussion Discussion Forum - Premier Christian Community |
When I was in grade school I remember there was this dog in my neighborhood. I think it was a Shih-Tzu or a pomeranian, I can't remember exactly. Anyhow, this dog was an inside only dog. I don't think anyone ever saw this dog out of the house, ever.
Every day I would walk to school. Every day this dog was waiting in the big bay window in the front of the house, poking its head out from the lace curtains, waiting to bark at the kids walking by. The dog was there in the morning, the dog was there when we walked back home. Every day. Monday through Friday, week after week. I don't know what the deal was with that dog, I guess it just couldn't help itself. Whenever it saw a kid with a backpack walk by, it had to bark. Year after year. I wonder how many years of that dog's life were spent at that window. I wonder why that dog felt the need to bark at every kid that passed? Why not go take a nap, or chase a ball or whatever dogs do during the day. Instead, it just sat there. Waiting to bark. |

IMO, the original question was simple and honest enough, and the thread would probably been a two-pager, at most.
It would go along the lines of seeking a informational hobby forum, or a parenting forum, or another internet forum: A request for an reference from someone that does not know. The personal comments belong in their proper venues. Geesh. /internetmoderatormode |
