per lance, he has passed over 500 doping tests (i believe this, considering the number of events he has entered...).

let's see what dirt they dig up.

For all of his achievements and all of his events.....if they haven't caught him yet....and now he is retired and they are still pursuing this?

That's BS....good grief!

GO LANCE!

With astonishing predictability, just days before the TDF, Lance Armstrong finds himself under investigation again. I have my opinions on whether or not he was cheating, but my god. Really? Why can't they just let this go? Who will it help if he or any other retired cyclist is found guilty? Cycling federations, newspapers, governments, have tried to catch him every year he won and every subsequent year since he's been retired, with no success; unless you count adding to the wealth of lawyers a successful outcome.

TMZ.....the ultimate authority claims that the investigation is done, the ban is in, but the agency has no enforcement authority.....the USADA issued the 'ban'.

I be conrfuzzled....since when does the USADA have sanctioning authority over independent triathlon events or can tell them who is eligible...... and what happened to due process?

After his long battle with multiple cancers I'm not surprised he would test positive to something illegal.

Chemotherapy is very intensive and complex so logically this may have produced a positive result at some point.
Not to mention pain relief and natural remedy's for immune system improvement.

I wish they'd just leave the guy alone.

Because the point with drug cheats is that they will be (may be) caught, even years later, and that even a great like Armstrong may end his career in disgrace.

He is a great I hope this proves to be baseless, but its hard to think why US authorities would move against him unless for dishonourable motives.

Good summary. He won the TdF so many times that they can't let this go. But as you say, no one could have won it on that scale without drugs, so its kind of academic.

If it were the French or others I'd buy it.. but this us a US organisation....To me the foundation appears to be based on person to person animosity, with the opportunity to 'get' somebody after the fact being seized with relish...

In which case he and his team deserve a medal for the efforts and ability to avoid detection on the scale they have.. over so many tests and for so long... undertaken by people who were intent on ensuring he was unable to compete. So whether they are incompetent (yet managed to catch others who were equally tested) or Lance's team was simply better or perish the thought... he was clean!. Shock, horror... unbelievable!

Here we go again - another TDF appraoches and ANOTHER drug use accusation for Lance....

Here's the deal. He either did use and didn't get caught. Or he is a genuine freak of nature. You know what? His last TDF win was SEVEN years ago. There is no current news here.

Here is some current news. The Lance Armstrong Foundation (according to public records) has raised 325 million $$ for cancer treatment/research, etc. 81 cents of each dollar go to the cause.

At this point, I really don't care if he doped or not. His commitment to this cause, and the hope he has given to cancer patients and their families, far outweighs all the TDF wins.

Some gal on won the morning tv shows just came down with some blood disorder that was caused by her cancer treatments.

Whose to say that his cancer treatment didn't effect him in a positive manner.

USADA needs to move on and figure out a way to bring him into the fold to promote US sports.

Stupid witchhunt, he's nothing but an age grouper now. Some people just can't let it go. I think EVERY competative professional cyclist is dirty, no exceptions. Has he commited perjury?

I'll be the ruthless mean guy here. I'd like to see those who are making allegations get cancer. Jeez, get over it as Armstrong has done thousands times more goodwill than any other rider or USADA official has ever or dreamed of doing in their lifetime. Does he talk of his suffering or personal life? Hell no but with all these scumbag lawyers seeking work, I would like to see him slap suits for attempt of defamation.
