One of those sad days for me..
This afternoon I found out that one of my best friends, mentor and one of the best persons I have ever had the privilege to meet and have in my life was brutally murdered during a robbery at his house near Johannesburg, South Africa. It is one of the saddest days in my life to know that I will never get to see him again in this life. My heart also goes out to his wife for her loss and the agony she had to go through witnessing this senseless act.
RIP my friend you will be missed: Iain Nicol, July 9 1959 to August 24, 2013

Sorry to hear about your loss. Almost every time I go to Africa I see, hear or experience another thing like this. RIP

I was very, very concerned about safety when we were in SA. You can tell by the barbed wire and armed guards everywhere that security is dicey, even in large cities.
I'm sorry for your loss. Just terrible.

Sorry for your loss Neil. I lost my grandfather last year, a man that was a mentor and inspiration to me. One year later and it's still hard to believe that I'll never see him again. Nothing can be said to make it better.

Sorry to hear this. SA is one of the most dangerous countries in the World. Its the only place I've ever worked on a movie where we had private security that was loaded for Bear.

Thank you everyone. He really meant a lot to me and this is really difficult. I can only imagine how his wife feels (she is getting a lot of support from friends and family there). I am visiting there in December and seeing him would have been one of the best parts of the trip.
